What would we have to comment on if anyone in and around the FB program had a clue. Clearly Kraft and Franklin are just staggering around throwing money at some lucky stiff who did a decent job as DC at OSU (We will give him the benefit of the doubt, until he can be properly evaluated snap by snap by the BWICAC).
The Franklin - Kraft gaffes include, but are not limited to:
What if Knowles stays or goes elsewhere (alot of BWICAC flashbacks here, turned down prom dates etc.)
Surely this will piss off all the other coaches
Why don't we just take this money and go out and buy a WR? Does the money even come from the same place?
When he turns the job down, who will ever want to work for us?

It just gets exhausting being forced to run this program from home. Why don't they ever think like we do?

Good points. The big sell to Knowles might be - come to PSU and when we lose to Michigan at least our fans won’t go after you personally!

Nope. But Knowles clearly is sending signals that he is open for business. Fear of failure should not deter PSU from seeking excellence.
As an aside, Knowles and Dex are represented by the same agent...at least that's what I've been told. I also think that many get distracted by the contract $$. If he's looking, it isn't the $ that is the source of his roving eye. My guess there is a "someone " he doesn't enjoy working with.

I think Knowles is a good DC, struggled a little yr one at OSU, but is he really that much of an upgrade over Allen?

I agree. I feel a lot of positive vibes from PSU right now. Franklin seems to be getting stuff done. It just seems like he’s working harder than ever to improve every day.

This is likely right on. Add to that, IMO, the crapfest that happens in Columbus with every loss. The second guessing and abuse from those following and contributing money to the team has to be exhausting. It is really on another level compared to most other places.

As of an hour ago PSU was "still in it." Seems Knowles has great friendship/ respect for Franklin. I honestly thought until today that this was nonsense. Knowles is seriously considering PSU. Says a lot about what "insiders" think of the program.

Who cares? Even convincing the PSU AD that we need to spend that kind of money and the fact that we are making offers to steal coaches from better programs in what would be a lateral move by job title is a sign that the AD is willing to compete with the best of them. This is all positive new regardless how it ends up. Knowles always was going to be a long shot given his reputation and popularity. You gotta shoot your shot.

That "someone" is LJ Sr. Which leads me to believe OSU would just get rid of LJ in a forced "retirement" and keep Knowles after giving him a raise. Knowles is way more important to hang on to at this point, LJ is done and only has a short time left anyway. There was also a little smoke that Knowles wasn't happy with Day because apparently Day took LJ's side during some of the disagreements, and those 2 relationships are why Knowles is open to moving.

Rumor has been that Franklin has been after Knowles for many years, so I'd believe that they have a good relationship at this point. I still doubt he leaves OSU for us as they are a superior program, but even getting consideration from him is a win.

Sounds like a good way to let everyone know your budget so you overpay for any coordinators left on the market.
