Lots of people are criticizing the play calling.

Just something to consider, what if Relf hit the receiver on half of his deep throws? There would be a three touchdown swing and the Internet would not be blowing up. But he missed every deep throw and most this year. It sure changes things.

I don't think he threw one pass over 15 yards in the air that was on target. He missed 3 fairly easy deep balls that would've all be TDs and he missedan easyplayaction seam route to Ballard that was wide open.

His accuracy seems to have regressed from last year. It kind of reminds of what aTm went through last year with pre-season, all Big-12 QB Jarrod Johnson. He played so bad in the first few games, that he got bumped to 2nd string by mid-season.

that is hurting our offensive production. I'm so tired of seeing the read option up the middle or Relf reading it and running up the middle or slighlty outside. Why can't we call the spead option, shuffle pass, a jail-break screen, or a slip screen and let Carr or Lewis get up field? It seems this time last year our play calling was much better and a lot more creative. Also, Relf stands in the pocket way too long, and he stands exactly where he catches the snap and doesn't moveuntil it's too late. Bottom line is that we just aren't as good as our expectations...

Perkins was thereceiver latelast year that mademe think Relf could be a top half SEC QB. Where has Perkins been the first few games??? Green was missing last year and I see nothing so far to say he should be playing, he has missed catching passes in several games. Relf does need to lead people open, he seems torarely ever do that on the over 15 yard plays.

I expected the skill players to pick up from where we ended in the Gator Bowl, they have not. The offense seems stuck as does the defense in waiting to see what the other team is going to do verses doing something ourselves. This leads to lack of passionin playing. The O line can only hold so long this year, we need to get on with it rather than this studder step crap in the backfield.

He didn't have time to think about it! I think Relf is in his own head too much. He plays his best when he is just slinging it around and not trying to "place" the ball. On the other hand, the play calling was horrible. It seemed like we abandoned the short passing game altogether in favor of bombing it down the field all day. Even after it became obvious it wasn't working!

But now the question is, do we keep using Relf? With his obvious regression, and our 2-2 record (remind you, 2 wins against **** teams) what the hell do we have to lose? I can tell you, if we continue the path we are on, we will struggle to be 6-6 at the end of the season. To think otherwise, is naive. </p>

He pump faked to the right, and then tossed it to Perkins just using his wrist, literally like one would through a dart.

I still can't decide if that play call was bold, or incredibly stupid.

because it is terrible. I don't know why we have our "running" quarterback stand in the pocket on 90% of passes. First, our offensive line pass blocks like crap 70% of the time. Second, Relf is more dangerous on those roll out passes because he has the option to run and actually get yardage. Third, it gives our meh receivers time to get open. I saw Relf look like a quarterback the 4 or 5 times he rolled out in last night, he made at least 2 very nice first down throws that I saw, and for the first time that I remember this season, he threw the ball away twice when nothing was there and he had no running room. I am convinced that Relf throws much better when he is not standing flat-footed in the pocket.

I am about as tired of seeing Relf hold the ball on the read option for no gain as I was of seeing HB off-tackle on 3rd and long during the Croom error. Blame the offensive line for not blocking because that has been crappy, but what the 17 is Relf seeing that makes him pull the ball in and run? I don't understand what our team practices during the week. Because we don't get better at anything, and I have not seen any improvement on fixing fundamental problems with several players. After practice, don't let Relf leave until he hits a simple post pattern 30 yards down field, in stride, 10 times in a row.

We have several problems that are caused by players, but they could be greatly masked by calling plays with a little thought.

On defense, just keep sending 4 pass rushers who get nowhere, Chris Wilson, because that is working like a charm**. That guy is either the biggest 17ing idiot, or has no belief in his defensive backs whatsoever. I see our defensive backs get beat every so often, but is usually when their quarterback has all 17ing day to throw the ball. It is not like the LBs are helping in coverage anyway, because they are all as slow as molasses going uphill in January, with the exception of Wells.

Yea we stick with him, but call the game suited to his style of play. Speed Option, quick short passes to Perkins, Ballard and the WR's, etc to unload the box to make the read option and designed delayed QB draw along with the RB counters more effective.
