Sad. The grand jury hearing was to start tomorrow morning. Dude just threw 2 lives away for nothing.

Eh…I’ll save my heartbreak for the family of the man he ran over and left to die.

A very young person made a terrible decision under duress. It's okay to have empathy and feel bad for him and his family that that decision led to the end of his way too short life. It's also possible to feel that way and still hurt for the family of the first victim.

Na. You don’t get to blame his age and act like he made a single terrible decision. He made a string of selfish decisions that ended in another man being left for dead on the side of the road. That man is the only victim here.

C’mon, man. My heart can hurt for both of them. It’s a tragic story all the way around.
Your heart can hurt for whomever it pleases. It is a tragic story, but Kyren Lacy could have chosen to do the right thing a few different times that night and changed how it ended. He was more concerned with his own freedom and draft stock than doing the right thing.

I read that he was fleeing a family gathering where he had shot a gun at someone or to scare someone. Then he was speeding, passed someone on a double yellow line, and caused a wreck where a man died. Then left the scene to avoid punishment. If true, kind of hard to feel any sympathy for him.

You have a serious empathy problem, and I'm not just taking about this response.

In times like these, it's important to remember WE ARE ALL SINNERS... It does not make it any better, but it is true. I pray for his family and the family of the deceased. It's tragic, but it is a price this world pays often because of OUR sin.

Speaking of people with bright futures they squandered with horrible decisions, Henry Ruggs is eligible for parole next year. He was sentenced to 3-10 years in August of 2023.

I don't think shooting guns at people at family events and passing people in no passing zones at extreme speeds is just a "terrible decision." I made a lot of bad decisions when I was younger, still make some now. But that's something other than just a "bad decision."

And yet the woman he hit, while drunk and driving 100mph, was roasted alive and will still be dead. 17 that dude too.

I admittedly don't know the story very well and wasn't aware about the events leading up to the wreck. I still think it's okay to not be happy he killed himself or to even feel terrible about it. He was still a person even if he did a series of awful things.

ETA; it also doesn't prevent me from feeling terrible for the hit and run victim and family to also feel terrible for him and his family.
