I guess it doesn’t take much since she just had a baby seven months ago…apparently you just have to walk by her to get her pregnant.
Likely becuase they figure that she doesn't have much talent to so they wanted to focus on other stuff. Sad, but true.
Actually, she has a lot of talent. I think the "sameness" of much of the music and dancing kind of dumbed things down a bit.

And you think that she didn’t have ANY say in the show? If she had confidence in her own talent she might have toned things down. Maybe she doesn’t believe that she’s as good as you might believe. Just sayin.
Does she normally gyrate and bounce around the stage? Bring pregnant, she wasn’t going to do all that. Without the dancers, the show likely would have been really boring.
I like Rihanna. And she’s doing something right - think my wife said she’s the world’s youngest female billionaire (34). Being pregnant I think limited her performance (which I thought was meh save for the floating stages) but still - wonder why she couldn’t bring Drake or Jay Z out for some collaborations or sing some more of her bigger hits?
The list of bands/performers who could do a great halftime show is pretty small - Taylor Swift, Pink, Foo Fighters, Drake, and I’m sure there are some country acts too (not counting the ‘old’ rockers who could be deployed if interested/need be).

The "sameness" oa you refer to it is technically "minimalism". Very common in today's pop music. Very few chords, key changes, repetitive etc. Easy to compose and perform. You dont need a music degree to produce the music Rihanna performed last night.

FWIW, the general press and twitter impressions think Rhianna did really well.

Did anybody catch the one Santana riff that was mixed into the soundtrack of her performance? I thought for sure Santana was going to appear.
I think I just have to accept that the Super Bowl is not aimed at football fans. I thought the halftime show was garbage. I thought last year’s halftime show was garbage, though some of it was music I enjoyed more. I’m a huge Springsteen fan. His halftime show was garbage (and embarrassing for me as a fan of his). I don’t want to see a concert when I’m watching football, but I guess it must work for some.

I like Rihanna. Good music. Obviously nice to look at. However, this halftime show was just boring based on what I was expecting. Guessing the pregnancy had a lot to do with that, of course.
Glad they're sticking with more contemporary entertainment options (even though she hasn't been putting out music for a bit now, either) and not just living in a wayback machine.

Maybe they can get Waters and Gilmour to put their differences aside and get Mason back on the skins and do a Pink Floyd halftime show....because "people" like Pink Floyd.
The halftime show was ok, maybe even borderline good. The true test though comes with time. And I can guarantee you in few days people will have softened on it, and in a few weeks people won’t even be talking about it, and a few months it’ll be completely forgotten.

It'll never happen, but the halftime performance should be before the game IMO. Allow for a normal length halftime. I had no rooting interest in the game but the Chiefs seemed the clear beneficiary of the long break between the 2nd and 3rd quarter especially given the time of possession advantage the Eagles had in the first half.
Couple points. I love Pink Floyd, about as much as I live Springsteen. No desire to see them at the Super Bowl than Springsteen though.

That is the thing that many don't seem to grasp. This is a 15 minute shortened version of a show and not for any bands target audience. There are some bands or artists that I can listen to, but I wouldn't pay to see them. This dumb notion that everyone will like a Superbowl half time show is crazy. Oh wait....older folks don't like a younger generations music or the dancing they are doing....well that has never happened before. Elvis and his daring to move his hips....how the world went on is amazing to me.
We all get there eventually but the old men yelling at the clouds are just that. Most overrated thing about a Super Bowl is the opinions of a half time show. I sat through it...it was fine. I wasn't running out to a Rhianna show prior and the needle didn't get moved. She clearly has talent based on her library and hits she has produced...not a knock on her at all. I loved Mars' show a few years back, but I'm not paying to see him either. It's 15 minutes of over-hyped orchestrated shows that some people tend to get fake outraged over.
