Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford appeared to turn his back on a photographer who was seriously hurt falling off the stage at the team’s Super Bowl victory party on Wednesday. (Watch the video below.)

The woman, identified as sports photographer Kelly Smiley, said on Twitter that she fractured her spine. A GoFundMe page was set up to help with her recuperation.

In video rapidly making the rounds, Stafford is seen on stage at the LA Memorial Coliseum as the photographer plummets below. “Oh my,” Stafford appears to say before turning, taking a swig of water and walking away.

His stunned wife, Kelly, meanwhile, turns her attention to the fallen photographer. The clip then cuts away. It’s unclear whether Stafford returned.

Article said he was also drinking tequila? Pretty awful look from him to honest. Doesn’t even flinch - just walks away. Wow.

Although it does look bad, I think there is a pretty reasonable excuse here. If anyone listened to him speak to the crowed, he was HAMMERED. I think when he saw that woman fall he was thinking "Sh*t, I'm way too drunk to deal with that right now." I think a sober stafford would have been conferenced for her well being.

IMO, you are being way too generous. He couldn’t be bothered. Total POS action.

Wow, I had not seen that before. What an awful look for Stafford. I always thought he had a reputation for being a good guy. The old expression, a picture says 1,000 words.... certainly true with this video. I lost all respect for him.

Bad look, and he probably realized it afterwards. He has since announced (out of guilt?) that he's going to pay for her medical care stemming from the accident. She has a broken spine so it's not like it's minor bumps and bruises.

Also 2 broken cameras and lenses. While not as important its still probably over $7,000.

His wife ran to help while he walked away- she's far better than he is- or deserves

I don't see that as giving him a pass. Looks the opposite to me.

Saying that being HAMMERED "is a pretty reasonable excuse" is not attempting to give Stafford a pass?? lol

That's what drunk hit-and-run drivers say. Do you give them a pass too??

Yeah, because that example is comparable at all? A drunk driver hits another car....did Stafford push this woman off the ledge? He's drunk, a paparazzi takes a spill as she is taking his picture, he tells his wife to tend to her(and probably the hoards of people off in the crowd/medics). You want him, drunk, to jump off the stage and comfort her? Could he have been more interested in her well being, sure, but to compare his actions to that of a drunk hit and run driver is asinine.

Stafford and his wife ask the woman to take picture of them. Woman falls while attempting to do so. Stafford sees the woman fall and walks away unconcerned. Where did I say I wanted him to jump off the stage and comfort her? When did he tell his wife to tend to her? If it was his wife or child do you still see him walking away?

Being drunk does not mean you can't be a decent human being.

Stop. His indifference was reprehensible as he casually walked away sipping water.

Stafford came off is a jerk by walking away but fortunately others were there to assist as best they could. I have to admit I don't get the over-the-top vitriol for him though. He's not a medical professional. The most he could have done was hold her hand and tell her everything was going to be OK. But torches and pitchforks are all the rage nowadays.

and the least he could have done was show some concern, or do you now need to be a medical professional to do that??

but you think no one should criticize that??
I never claimed that. I wrote I don't get the over-the-top vitriol. If I read this thread without first knowing the facts, I'd think Stafford body checked the woman off the stage then danced over her while saying, "How do you like that b****!!"

Which poster said anything over the top? Which poster said he even touched her or caused the fall? Which poster said he, in any way, celebrated her injury?

I didn't read anything like that in this thread.

Look forward to seeing you providing answers to the above.

POS. Dbag. Over the top for an incident for which all anyone knows about is a few second video clip.

And I love your sly technique of trying to put words in my mouth. Also, your reading comprehension needs some work. I didn't say anyone claimed he touched her. I wrote if I didn't know any better, this thread would lead me to believe he did something like that which would justify all the hate directed toward the guy.

Then what post made you "tink Stafford body checked the woman off the stage"?

lol. I'm done. You made a stupid post and can't admit it. That's OK. Just try to do better in the future.

Your comprehension is still lacking. That's OK. Some people are like that.

You're outraged at Stafford for something which caused no further harm to anyone and didn't involve you. Enjoy the rage if it makes you feel better my friend.

I worked in the event industry for a long time. The fact that there were no railings is a huge violation. The inspector and event company that set up that stage are in big trouble.
