May have been mentioned before but rumor has it

Team effort does correspond with the change, but correlation does not prove causation. Just saying.

MVB has been great for a freshman, Shapen was a more complete/mature QB.

And then, when you think about it… we’ve won 1 17’n game, who really gives a 17? Does it really matter who the QB is? No it doesn’t with as bad of a defense as we have.

Why do we always we have to be the school and team with the locker room that doesn’t supposedly support the white QB’s? Are we Jackson State seriously.

He was the first guy under leach there was no other option. Until Mike Wright. We heard the same thing about Mike Wright and the locker room support.
No? How can you possibly have forgotten that another QB started the Mike Leach era for us, and that there were "rumors" that the locker room wanted Rogers instead? Rogers displaced him after a few games despite Costello having the huge win over LSU...

Locker room wanted Damien Williams, Willie Gay punched out Shapen, Rogers stood with them in some protest, but can’t remember what they were protesting. I do know that they walked out of practice though.
You don't have a successful 3-year career like Fitzgerald without locker room support. The "locker room" wanted [white] Shrader over [white] Stevens in 2019, just like it wanted [white] Rogers over [white] Costello in 2020. (Both of those 2019 and 2020 were rumors, but were probably true.)

The same people who cry the hardest about other people playing the race card are the ones who play the race card the most themselves. White fragility lives?

Fitz’s tougness won them over. They didn’t want him at first. Wouldn’t catch passes that hit them in the chest.

The real question is why did all 4 of our transfer QBs we've brought in over the last 6 years get displaced by a true freshman who was better?

Stevens -> Shrader
Costello -> Rogers
Wright -> Parson
Shapen -> Van Buren

Schools over the country are finding success with their transfer QBs, but we've whiffed out 4 times in 6 years.

…and then Mike Wright over Rogers. Why do you think? Because Wright was awesome yeah that’s it.

In your reply to my post, your examples are two white QB’s which proves nothing.

I don’t give a **** what race our QB is, but sometimes I think the team does. I’m not saying that it has happened this year, but it has come into play in the past.

Didn’t all but one of those guys get hurt?
I was thinking the other day we’ve had rotten luck with transfers getting injured. Then again, seems like some of them had prior injury history when they came.

Your counter examples have nothing to do with the original poster’s post in this thread, or with Might Wright. Or with anyone else during the Sherril era. Your counter examples are separate situations.
You said we "always we have to be the school and team with the locker room that doesn’t supposedly support the white QB’s"

I gave 3 examples of white QBs in the last decade that did have locker room support. Two of which got it as true freshmen and displaced upperclassman transfers.

Starting with Dak Prescott graduating after 2015, we went all the way to 2023 (with the exception of Keytaon Thompson starting a couple of games while Fitz was hurt/suspended) with only white QBs, and yet you say we "always have a locker room that doesn't support white QBs?" Really? For 8 years we had racial resentment in our locker room with a bunch of different QBs? And it's just coming out now in 2024?

When kids run the show, BS happens. It’s up to the adult coaches to cut that shlt out.

Costello was benched several times during the early season in favor of Rogers before Rogers won the starting job.

I suspect Shapen would have been benched in favor of Van Buren at some point this season if he hadn't gotten hurt.

A new member comes bringing rumors? Seems legit.
Dannnnggg! WilCoDawg my man! What, couldn’t find the stinky stadium cup thread or was it the “I’m not living up to my travel ball parent dream” thread. Oh well, back to my boring life as a less well-known member…

Most all these guys are paid now, so locker room rapport should not matter on who the QB is. Go do the dang job you are paid to do.

This thread is a dubmass sh1tshow.

Sports and competition are the great equalizers. People from all socio-economic backgrounds, race, creed, religion, etc. work out and through their differences for the shared goal of success and winning. In many cases sports integrated cultures more rapidly and more successfully before other institutions of society.

I have it on good authority that the late 90's teams hated Matt Wyatt for leading all those comebacks.****

So you think D1 receivers intentionally dropped passes thereby sabotaging not only their team but themselves and their own aspirations of playing in the NFL because the quarterback was white? Sounds completely reasonable.*

This is why we can't have nice things!
It's got nothing to do with race.
It has a lot to do with State recruiting and signing Southern Miss level lack of talent!

And everybody half-hated Dak... just different halves. Except the Latinas. They despised him 100%.
Some folks just have to interject race into every possible situation. (n)
