There was a story on NFLN and I forget the reports name, but he had the Browns getting Rodgers, and the Steelers getting Mayfield. I can't see the Browns trading with the Steelers, but that be interesting.
If the Steelers pick Pickett they're dumber than I think; and I think they're pretty dumb! QB is like #7 on the Steelers' list of team needs.
I really think that this coming year's expanded cap and Ben's retirement will allow them to bring in an FA QB with some sort of pedigree. Then they can spend their picks on OL, DL, some ILBs, and a CB or two. They could also use a top flight Wr to the take the top off defenses. Do not kid yourselves; it will take at LEAST two full, excellent drafts to get the Steelers back on track. More likely three.

Look at their drafting from 2010 to 2020, that is why they are in this position.
When they picked bush from michigan and he showed up with that idiotic fake tuxedo I knew we had a problem.
They wanted Devin White, why not trade up for him? Just like they wanted Minkah, so they drafted Edmunds instead. The linebackers they drafted over the years are mind blowing. 2020 we drafted these bums from Maryland because Tomlin's son plays there and Matt Canada had a pit stop there a few years back.
To be fair, Bush had a solid rookie season. He also had a stout DL in front of him eating up blockers. One of those DL is gone via FA, another is on the IR, and Cam is two years older trying to do the work of a couple of guys. So now the OL make it past the journeymen DL and rookies to the second level and Bush gets eaten up and caught in the wash. He was never a 'thumper' a la Vince Williams; he was supposed to be that sideline to sideline/cover the TEs and RBs out of the backfield guy. Then he lost a wheel.
What I worry about is that he also seems to have lost what fire he had.
Football is a team sport. Bush could roam the field and do OK if they could keep 340 lb OTs out of his grill. That's a feature of the 3/4 scheme...but not with this bunch.

Dumb take.. Steelers really aren't that far from competing, they have a ton of talent, they need a good QB. If they draft a QB, so be it.
Pickett has the tools and talent to be good in the pros.
I do think they will grab a OL at some point, but not in the first round. Let us not forget, the Steelers OL has shown some promise at points this season. They are starting 2 rookies who need some time.
is there a reason they would prioritize draft QB and deal with a rookie? what makes Pickett the logical choice for them vs any other QB in the draft?

Honestly, I think they sign a FA, but whatever they do, they do. Overall their drafts have been pretty good.

There is no FA QB they are going too sign that will help them long term or give them a chance short term.
Ben is 25 - 3 -1 career vs the Clowns and you can't see them winning another game.........realllllly? The end of your statement probably sez it for me.
Did not know that. They looked so good in the Viking game didn't they. May I suggest you bet tons of coin on the Steelers in the next 4 games. I am sure that 25-3-1 record means sooooooo much. How did tha t record work out in the playoff game last year...hope you have no problems losing money

I never said, nor would I ever think that Rudolph the Red Nosed QB is the answer to anything. I also don't see Pickett doing anything above beating Western Michigan with a team full of six year seniors. If I'm comparing the two, THEN I would say that Rudolph is the better choice. But, that's like picking which fat, ugly girl I should take out to dinner.

That is my point. MSU has a bad pass defense. If Pickett doesn't do well against MSU then he is exposed as someone who feasted on glorified high school defenses for 13 games. MSU has a decent pass rush, probably better than any team pitt has played.
I know I'm in the huge minority, but I think Trubisky is an above average QB that was stuck with a crappy Bears situation. He signed with the Bills for $1 million this year and looked great in the preseason. Josh Allen is in a boot this week with turf toe and Trubisky might play vs. the Panthers. I'd like to see what he can do with an OC that knows what he's doing and the weapons that the Bills have.
Minny was their third road game in 18 days.......and they were in it to the last plays of the game. Do I think the Steelers are as good as the past.....no. Do I think the Steelers will win one of their last four games in the upside down world of the NFL.......pretty good chance they will.
