New offensive and defensive coordinators next year?

Many expect Manny and his hair to take a head coaching job somewhere next season. 😞

Does Franklin sh|tcan Yurcich? Franklin hasn’t been shy about changing coordinators over the years. Without knowing what is happening behind closed doors with the offense, it is very possible that Franklin will blame Yurcich for the offense’s failures and make a change.

PSU could be starting over on offense and defense next season. While that could be viewed as a disaster, it could instead be an opportunity to take the program to the next level and beyond. 😀

Never underestimate James' ability to fire staff to save his own butt as cover for his incompetency ....and then go on to hire under-qualified sycophants as replacements (e.g. Trautwein).

I hope Manny doesn’t leave but I fully expect him to. I would if I were him. He was a great hire by Franklin.

Crazy, crazy thought, but what about Pat Fitz as DC? The world loves a good comeback/character rehabilitation story.

As for OC, I have no idea. But I’d love to see someone out of the Pac12 to help breathe some life and excitement into this offense.

Do any of the most talented OC's and DC's find the PSU job attractive enough take the job and stick around?

Definitely. Premiere job in premiere conference. PSU can/will pay too. Next PSU HC likely close to $10mm a year (sometime around 2028-30 when Franklin’s buyout isn’t a detriment).

One thing you say is absolutely true. Franklin will blame someone else for their failures. He never ever takes responsibility.

Franklin was critical of the play calling today at his postgame.

Yeah, Franklin has his fingerprints all over this offense. Good thing he’s achieved “guru” status as an offensive mind.

Would hate to lose Manny Diaz since he is arguably the best Penn State DC since Jerry Sandusky‘s 1970s-1980s era.

The Penn State offense is a dumpster fire and Yurcich has proven to be a disastrous OC at Penn State. Clearly, he has to go after 3 consecutive years of underperformance. Yurcich has manage to regress to John Donovan level.

In hindsight I wonder if Ciarrocca may have been a better fit for what Franklin was (is) trying to accomplish on offense especially in regards to the ground game. Not sure what transpired there between him and Franklin, whether Yurcich was the shiny new toy for Franklin, full of "explosive" plays, or there was more to it. While the PSU offense under Ciarrocca took some time to settle in, it seemed pretty solid later in the season. It takes more than a single season for a coordinator to really establish their schemes, especially an abbreviated season such as 2020.

Totally agree, KC had a really good ball control offense with big focus on time of possession, basically the perfect antidote to this great defense..MY was brought in because of Franklin's obsession with "expolives" and now we are about the least exposure team in the country.

Maybe hire Marshall23…he has experience and gets along with CJF and would be a perfect yes man.
