With 1/2 the fan base encouraging and excusing the quitting, it was bound to happen. College football is essentially dead. The pansy crowd more concerned about participation trophies than winning has killed it for good.
Makes one wonder if the NCAA caused this chaos on purpose…. Bowl games are no more than a glorified Spring Game.

To me Bowl games are starting to have the same level of hype as spring games.

it almost needs to be play offs or nothing.

At this point, I'd be ok with SC saying "Thanks but no thanks" to future bowl games because:

According to the quitter apologists - they're meaningless anyway - so if they're meaningless, make them truly meaningless.
The quitters are gonna quit anyway......
and the apologists are gonna coddle the quitters no matter what.

It's basically theft from a fan base. Players don't care and neither do 1/2 the fans. So: "Thanks but no thanks" seems to be the answer.

The 2 players out didn’t cost us the game. We didn’t adjust well enough to what they were doing on defense. A guy on another thread nailed it, Sellers had plenty of chances to run it on the edge but tried to throw it instead. Don’t know if that was coaching or Sellers, but the lack of Sellers rushing yards was the difference. Look at the yards per carry Adaway and Holman had. Not bad at all, just not enough total yardage.
Who the hell is Holman?!

I figured we were going to get beat . I have been a fan for 60 years. We never win when we are a lock based on the media.
However we are getting better and maybe some day before I die, we will be a contender.
I’m 75 and I still love the Cocks!
Next year will be a rebuilding year, especially on defense.

Confused the recruit Holman with Howell. Still, Howell averaged 6.2 a carry. Problem is still that we didn’t adjust offensively well enough to win the game, however you spell it

i'm sure Deebo is crushed with his anger. People talk about character with these players. What I'm seeing is that some people needed to reminded of "Priorities" when it comes to fandom. You want to win, but we have no say in the choices of individual players. Also, it's all entertainment at the end of the day. Getting to 10 wins is not life or death. The sun will come up tomorrow if God says so.
Well, we're just going to have to contractualize this thing, and contracts will have to cover the entire season. And if they use ploys not to participate in the last game, either burn this thing down or take 'em to court.
Todd asked Shane this question in the post-game interview and he didn't directly answer it, just danced around it... which leads me to believe they were trying to rein in his running/freelancing.

The obvious question is, "why"?
If Texas had done that to Vince Young in 2005, they never would have beaten Southern Cal for the National Championship.

No doubt... and we wouldn't have 17-14 to hang our hats on, either.

Makes me wonder if it's because they have a couple million reasons today (that they didn't have on November 30th) to keep him healthy going into next season.

I am sure they got to where they are today by having the attitude of a quitter. Be grateful for what they gave us. If you could see we needed them today then be glad we had them when we did.

"kick rocks"
I’m grateful for what they did for the team the first 12 games, but they quit on the team.
