Loving or Hating an EV and owning one, I get. Hating on them while never having owned one, sounds ignorant.
I don't love or hate them. If I had money to piss away I would own a Tesla or something like it just to knock around in close to home. I've got to believe the Cybertruck would be cool to own if you have an extra $100K. Would not want one as my primary vehicle. What I meant to imply is Blue Oval City was being built to produce EVs only. I've read they have slowed down the construction. I've personally heard locals say an EV will never be built in it. It is a 5.6 billion dollar mega-site. Lot of money pumped into an uncertain market.

Nothing positive will happen for Nissan until Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida is shown the door. Everyone familiar with the deal is aware of this fact.

Sounds like that is coming. Honda called for it before they walked away. Hopefully they will ax him and Honda will come back to negotiate something. My only concern is keeping Canton open for a few more years. I'm hoping they move the Sentra out of Mexico and back to Canton. I'm too old to be putting in applications.

There is some kind of big Nissan announcement about a restructure in management coming around March 12th, which may be the 13th here in the states (14 hour time difference between here and Japan) I think they are working on a deal to send Uchida-san packing.

I was in the Canton Plant about 6-8 months ago. The guy I was with was saying every Altima that rolled off the line was sold and it was the cash cow for Nissan. I took that to mean things were going good. Was he wrong?

Probably means there’s not enough rolling off the line

Just that one car. The Titan production is gone and the Frontier is cutting way back. The LCV was phased out thanks to EV vans. Altima production is not increasing. That's why I'm hoping we get the Sentra back. They moved it to Mexico years ago. We need it back to avoid reducing to one line in one assembly building. And as far as being sold they go to dealers. Sometimes the dealers cant sell them get overloaded and start complaining. Not many people want a Titan.

Update on Nissan:

Makoto Uchida to step down Apr 1st. Ivan Espinosa will be the new CEO. Will negotiations with Honda resume? TBD.....
Other investors such as FOXXCONN are possibilities. FoxxConn wants to enter the EV sector in some capacity.

What is the future of Nissan Canton?

The plan is still 4 EV models in time for a 2028 Model Year launch. Canton, as of now, is projected to be the Battery Plant for those EVs too.
The current model Altima has 1 or 2 more years left on the current design production.
The Frontier will continue to be produced in Canton, as the frame supplier is nearby.

Speaking of the Frontier: It just won the Mississippi Maker's Challenge as the coolest thing produced in the state of MS.

If they can license and utilize that new Chinese tech that "fuels up" an EV as quick as an ICE, then it's a whole new and different ball game.

I take it that is an award to be proud of if you work there. Until I saw that Kevin Charles won it the year before. I live in NE MS and how can this furniture plant make anything cooler than the dozens of plants in this area. If you've ever been in a furniture plant how can anything they build be the coolest thing manufactured in the state. If you've been in one you've been in all of them. But anyway not bashing the award and I'm definitely pulling for Nissan to keep their head up.

Never would have thought a piece of furniture was cooler than a Corolla or what General Atomics manufacturers***
