No more court storming?

Is the bball dude like a foot taller/bigger than most fans? Part of me is like these athletes need toughen up some. They are banging with other big guys under the boards and can't navigate their way out of some non-athletic fans running on the floor? Also, I think the court storming is just dumb unless it is a playoff game where a 16 seed upsets the top dog for the league title. This is what happens when everyone gets a medal. This not only puts the visiting team and staff is danger but also the security staff which is mostly old people that volunteer to work the games for something to do.

In the video recently posted he very clearly sticks his arms out and initiates contact with the fan. Then does a weird 'duck and spin' like he got smashed into; dude is 7' 250 lbs. Maybe just stand still for a second and have everyone run around you. This isn't hard.
You watch it in full speed and it's all a blur...in super slow-mo, I see him sticking his arm up as someone is about to crash into him. There is nothing at all there of him "very clearly sticking his arm out and initiating contact". And his ankle did get smashed...being 7' tall doesn't make it hurt any less.

This is like people criticizing Clark when she got hit earlier this year and went off in pain...people said she overreacted, then we learned that she got the wind knocked out of her on the hit.

I don't understand how any places blame on the players in these recent situations.

He hit a person then flopped.

The fans don't belong on the court/field just like the athletes don't belong in the stands.

Storming the field of play is dangerous.

I'm glad I don't ever have to worry about any of my teams being in that position.

We've somehow managed decades of largely injury/incident free 'court storming' but all the sudden (and mostly when athletes don't know how to react) we have players flopping all over the place because as elite athletes they cannot resist the impulse to run full speed against the crowd and/or initiate contact with fans....noting fans are asking for it when they charge the court but it's not like it doesn't happen all the time. Maybe give the opposing time time to leave first? That would ruin the spontaneity, but maybe make things safer...

Or, the Mike Curtis approach for fan control.....

Cam Newton was jumped yesterday at an event - he fought off four attackers before people finally decided to help break it up. He is 6’5” 250 - some people need to learn the hard way…

Coupla/few thoughts here....

1. Given some of the offensive lines he had to play behind, he is probably used to a full house blitz.
2. I don't know who TSP crew is, but from a quick internet search, I am perplexed why they would think it's appropriate for them to resort to physical violence to attack Newton.
3. Thank goodness no one brought out a gun.
4. Somewhere, Mike Curtis is nodding his approval of this.
5. I don't like Cam Newton's hat. But I am not brave enough to tell him.

I don’t know who they are but here’s one of them before the fight:

Here is an overhead angle (and in the full speed one, you can appreciate how quickly everything happened as it was a blur)…

Yeah, that’s what I saw. He reached out and initiated contact. Not much by any means, but something. I guess he maybe got his knee clipped in that as well?
Regardless of any of this, fans should not be storming the court.

Look at the players feet. He is a big guy and took a step. The fan was looking at the player and did not see the players leg so they got tangled. What a dumb way to have anyone injured. Something will be done as people are getting more and more aggressive in these situations.

They should put a plexiglass wall around the court. You never see them storm the ice in hockey. I do not watch hockey, but have never heard of it…

I think if the basketball court was made of ice it would be more enjoyable from the gameplay to the fans rushing the court.
