No more 'of': South Carolina officially 'USC' again
The University of South Carolina announced today it will simplify its branding marks, focusing on its iconic tree-and-gates academic logo.
All that money wasted to change things and now more money wasted to put things back![]()
I love that logo. The lady on the left is giving the finger to the 'of'I've often wished the university would do more with the logo that is used on our rings that doesn't say a lick in English.

Has a Hugh Leatherman kind of feel to it - who's pockets were lined in these deals?I wonder how much money we paid consulting firms to come up with the UofSC idea and how much we paid consulting firms to come up with USC idea.
Folks who bought that sh!tt should no longer wear anything affiliated with Carolina. Take their support elsewhere.Folks who bought UofSC clothing and hats are either putting it back in the closet or dumping it on Ebay or dropping it in a donation box.
Good news. Hated UofSC.
And it was a gargantuan turd!"Sunset" the use of 'UofSC' adopted in 2019. That's a transparent euphemism for running like hell form the turd they laid.
Have we tried TheUSC before? I think that's the message we really want to convey. It was a swing and a miss for sure - but actually impressed they tried something new. Colleges are notorious for doing things "the way we've always done it."
I believe we did back in the 1980s. Isn't there still a water tower near the campus with that printed on it.Have we tried TheUSC before? I think that's the message we really want to convey.
It used to be on that smoke stack on campus & I recall seeing it on apparel in the 80s.Have we tried TheUSC before? I think that's the message we really want to convey.
That was a mistake, and the University should adopt it if it isn't already copyrighted by someone else. We predate that other place and we are an actual state. The distinction would be indisputable. It used to be on that smoke stack on campus & I recall seeing it on apparel in the 80s.
You can tell in this picture where, likely due to some bleeding heart, "the" was removed.
