go screw yourself Cam. But he is probably better at having patience with these 'me' types and most of us.

Have you ever considered that maybe he is just having a hard time making a decision?

What about this news shows that Newton is full of himself?

until he decides to postpone/change the date again. I'll just assume he's going to announce some time in between now and Jan 2011.

having a press conference regardless of how "tough" the decision is being full of yourself. And to keep pushing it back is even worse.

can you get out of a turnip? Milk from a cow?

Several announcements about the announcement. You would think his dad is Ryan Seacrest or something.

maybe it's the fact that a junior college quarterback is calling press conferences to announce where he's deciding to transfer to? Maybe that's it?

You have all this time in the world, yet you drag teams along that need your services, continue to set dates to commit, then continue to move those dates back. This hinders other teams recruiting. Just set a date way in the future, give yourself alot of breathing room to commit, and if you feel like commiting early, than do so. But don't keep changing things every week.

he's pretty much saying, "Cam hasn't made up his mind yet so we've decided to move the presser back to Saturday and that's only if the BBC can get in town by then!"</p>

You clearly know what is going on in their heads.

Almost every big national recruit goes down this way. It is what it is.

I am not saying Newton is NOT self-centered or a primadonna or whatever, I am just saying none of us know one way or the other. And I don't think any of the events of the last month have been any different than countless other 5-star recruiting scenarios.

Here is what I do know. Mullen had Newton in his huddle, on the sidelines, in the film rooms, at practice, etc. for YEARS at Florida and he wants him. That is what makes this a little different than your typical recruiting evaluation. Why would Mullen bring a player in that he has ALREADY coached, knowing that he is a cancer, or a primadonna, or a me-first player?

One would hope, and I know this is asking too much of people, that at some point, somewhere deep in the recesses of a persons mind they would go "Hmmmm, I'm starting to look like a huge attention ***** - maybe I should not 'alert the media' every time I get the itch to" Newton and his dad aside, I'd like to see this recruiting sh*t taken back a couple of clicks. Kinda help save the players and their parents from themselves a bit.

I feel fairly certain he is doing this so that FOX will run the presser at half time of the Cotton Bowl...

The Colts coach giving away a historical season or the Newton's not being able to reach a decision?

...you would think this guy was about to hold a press conference announcing a cure for cancer.

All I know is, after all this ********, Newton better be a Heisman candidate come this time next year.</p>

none of us would care or think anything of it if we didn't track it daily.

There are plenty of state fans that probably ask around about once a month what Newton's status is and they think everything is perfectly normal--think nothing of all this.

But those of us who devote our days and our employers' time, think it grows more and more assinine with every passing hour.

You just said that every 5 star recruit goes down like this, so I guess it could be argued that near everyone would take players that are self-centered. You'll have to forgive me for not diving in head first in the teen-athlete lust. It would seem to me that most all of this could be conducted with a modicum of humility and control. I do realize that many people eat this **** up. I don't count myself as one.

but it was us that postponed the press conference due to the coaches having other obligations?

And yes, having your career depend on 15, 16, 17, and 18 year olds is awful- thats why I dont do it anymore. Fighting with a mother in the principle's office over a kid wanting to miss football practice to get his Senior pictures taken with relatives is just another day in the life of a coach.

I don't get it. Is Cam thinking about going to OK State? I don't even think OSU has ringtones, while MSU has the best.

Paul didnt say whether BDJ called him or whether he called BDJ. But I imagine they get calls from all kinds of Scout, Rivals, etc reporters every week. What do you want them to do? Say nothing? Then you have people calling him a primadonna for issuing a "gag order" like they were last week.

And you are right - the recruiting media drives this train. It is the information age. In the past we wouldn't have known anything about the delays in his decision. We would just hear about the decision. Everything is immediate now and under a microscope.

I just think it is premature to label Newton. Like I said, maybe he is a punk, but I sure don't know him well enough to make that call.

I have a dipshit Alabama fan that gets his recrootin' information from al.com. In hindsight, this is probably the least dipshitty thing he does.

"But we will give everyone 48 hours notice of when and where the press conference will be. Once that happens, we will put on a gag order until Cam announces."

I want this to be over primarily because I am sick of hearing ******** like this.

And frankly, seriously, I'm starting to not want him on the team. Yeah, he's a play-ah. But play-ah's can also be cancer.

I heard a dollar figure, and then edited it out of my post. Its the highest amount I've ever heard being thrown around for a play-ah.

Bidding is the only thing that makes sense here. All this stuff about evaluating coaches, looking at stats, determining which program best develops his career, etc is all probably true - but all of the info needed to make a decision there has been around for months. I can't see an extra day or week making any difference in evaluating just that criteria. So its got to be about the bidding.

He should just setup a shadow ebay page under an assumed name. He could put his "teddy bear" up for auction.
