In theory it does, with the current BOT structure and how its set up... not so much. And if even a sniff of change is made the rules are "adjusted". Like David Bryne sang...Same as it ever was.Does it even matter at all?
Good luck getting a straight answer.Any new or deserving candidates need a nomination? I saw the ballot again in my inbox.
Good luck getting a straight answer.
I’m not really a good reference here. Barry would be able to handle that.Do incumbents also need the signatures to get on the ballot? I am voting for zero of them.
Four candidates for how many spots? Three? What do you mean when you say McGloin is running with DeLevie? Was not sure who all would be seeking nominations for this cycle of Alumni Elections, but I think that dust has settled.
It appears that after fairly full ballots the last two years, there will only be 4 candidates seeking nominations in 2024:
The 3 Incumbents - Alvin DeLevie, Brandon Short, and Steve Wagman
Only non-incumbent appears to be Matt McGloin (PSU Class of 2012, if anyone needs that info), who is running with Alvin DeLevie.
The PennStateForward group, who - along with Brandon Short - brought us Ali Krieger in 2023 (PennStateForward also brought us Christa Hasenkopf in the 2022 elections) is not putting a slate of candidates forward. They had put forward a group of three candidates for each of the past two elections.
As to Midnighter's question: Yes, all candidates, even incumbents, need to receive 250 nominations.
exactly my number, tooDo incumbents also need the signatures to get on the ballot? I am voting for zero of them.
I’ve decided to write in some of the guys on here. I want to see the PSU BOT directory include names like sluggo, midnighter, Corner Room Breakfast, Woodpecker, and last but not least, I want BobPSU92 on the board. Every time they bring something up for a vote, I want him to say “Be right back” only to return and say “we’re screwed”exactly my number, too

So four trustees for three slots?
To further what Bob asked, in other discussions the overall thought was that the other eight alumni appointed trustees weren’t doing much to move the needle as far as enacting changes that were for the betterment of the university. If so, does that mean that Alvin shouldn’t necessarily be thought of as an automatic vote either? Unfortunately, there are only 4 candidates for 3 spots, so not much appears to change in this round of elections, however, I would like to know which one of the incumbents are working the most to keep the university affordable, while striving to demand high academic standards? If we are to desire these traits, plus other positive impacts on the university, we need to know each incumbent candidate’s accomplishments on the board and what they propose doing to make even more impactful changes? Thanks.
I understand. However, it seems to be the vision of some on here to attempt to elect those with like minded views (affordable tuition, strong academic standing, smaller administration, etc) so that the alumni elected BOT have a stronger unified vice rather than 9 individuals occupying a seat. I’m all for that, however, when I ask who we should look at on the ballot to help advance that movement, I get no response. When I ask who we should look at to vote out, I rarely get a straight answer. So, therefore, it’s becoming pretty evident that it isn’t even worth casting a vote. With the exception of Barry a BOT seat is a status symbol for the elected alumni trustees. Even those with an agenda (Penn State Forward) don't seem to have done much to advance them. Sad that when we had an opportunity to seat some folks with good ideas (immediately after Joe's death), we defaulted to putting big names and pro-Joe retribution types there (and fooled by those who supposedly had connections in Harrisburg, etc.). Now, no one seems to care about it again and we're stuck with former football players.

What are Alvin’s accomplishments in his time on the BOT? Does he share the same goals you do? Does he voice his concerns? Will McGloin have the entire university in mind or just the football program? Will McGloin just be a yes man to Alvin?Short? No
Wagman? No
Unfortunately, that doesn't leave a very robust menu.
My guess is that deLevie is hitching his wagon to McGloin to avoid Alice Pope's fate. Here‘s my point:
Alvin is an incumbent and is not endorsing one or both of the other incumbents running for re-election. That is certainly his right. The question then is, to whom does Alvin object? This is OBVIOUSLY.about Alvin liking and respecting McGloin, but it also suggests that he has an issue with Short and/or Wagman. By endorsing McGloin, Alvin must be fine with Short or Wagman getting the boot. Does he have a preference?
TiogaL,Does anyone know Wendy Silverwood outside of the old board? I think she'd be a good candidate if we could convince her to run. Who can phone her up and find out if she's interested?
My wife and I can confirm your last sentence.Al and McGloin are joined at the hip. I ran into them at several functions at the Peach bowl including Neeli’s donor party, an NIL function and another private event. Plus they were constantly around the team hotel bar trying to get noticed.
I won’t share a name but the two of them came up to me and a current player not to be name ad we were talking. I introduced them to the player. After they left, the player asked me to confirm who McGloin was. Then he said oh ok, I hear he’s a dick.I confirmed his info.
So, there’s a reason why he got punched in the locker room by a teammate. My wife and I can confirm your last sentence.
No. That is a good reason to nominate McGloin so that we can get rid of this waste case.could anyone do worse?
It can get worse, though it won't be because of who the alumni trustees are. That said, none of the incumbents deserve to be re-elected. Pick the one you like least, for whatever reason, and substitute McPickSix.No. That is a good reason to nominate McGloin so that we can get rid of this waste case.
