You are talking about other people drinking coolaid while also claiming Trump was on the flight manifest to pedo island "lots of times". I'm sure you have an impeccable source for that and aren't just repeating something because you hate trump.

Same with him being a convicted rapist. That's certainly something that's obviously grounded in fact and not your fever dreams.

Definitely it's other people that are cultish and not you that is living with your own facts.

ETA: I don't particularly like Trump and wish he would lose or drop out of the primary, which obviously isn't going to happen, but I'm much more bothered by how people excuse any behavior on their part because of this orange boogeyman they have made up.
Epstein's flight logs show multiple times. I have seen several credible reports of a redacted passenger number being Trump, but no firm evidence. I did pile on because he's a horrible human, and because the far right looneys who cry pedo can't see that the actual sexual abuse evidence largely stacks up against the right, including sitting members of congress. And it is a real sore spot for me because my long time SBC church affiliation and the coverup of abuse within, which drives me nuts.

RE rape: It was only sexual assault, largely because of the very specific way that NY law defines rape, but still that's semantics.

And, I genuinely believe that this is a time for country over party to ensure that we have a democratic country going forward and that many on the far right are goose-stepping along intentionally while some of the good people in the normal right are doing so unwittingly...

If you're specifically talking about the swimsuit issue, reckon it had anything to do with the ubiquity of internet porn and particularly smartphones?

Yea, they probably could have stayed relevant longer by continuing to actually cater to customers rather than try to generate interest by purposefully providing models people don't want to see, but this is not the typical go woke, go broke scenario. It was, going broke + principal/agent problem, might as well go woke.

They needed to start plucking random instagram thots from obscurity and getting them to do everything for free in exchange for exposure. Add some online advertising and some swimsuits regular woman could actually wear (along with skimpy ones they shouldn't to keep men interested), links to those with a royalty set up, and they probably had an ok business if one that is a grind and certainly nothing like it used to be.

But I get a bunch of dumb journalism majors thinking that seems like work and getting more personal enjoyment from driving it into the ground.

If you're talking SI generally, do you think it had anything to do with being obtained by venture capital and proceeding to run out shoddy AI-generated content?

Nah. Everything they offered started being available faster and cheaper. There was no real reason to expect they'd be able to transition to a web-based business except that they had some name recognition and maybe some loyalty.
Yep, I love the 1980s and 1990s. I was young then, were you? Virtually EVERYBODY fondly recalls the years they were young. In 40 years, Zoomers gonna be telling youngsters how dope the 2020s were.
Is this really true? I feel like it's just people that complain the most are the ones people hear? I think looking at the impact of social media and smart phones on happiness levels is actually going to make a pretty good argument for essentially pre-2010 being better for a lot of people, but I feel like while there is bitching about how certain things have changed, just as many of our friends talk about how nice it is to rarely have to go into a grocery store now, to have basically anything we want on our door step within 2 days usually, to be able to fly cheap a lot of places even if the experience is degraded to make it cheap, to expect cars to go 100k+ miles with no problems, to have a chance to survive diseases that were death sentences a few decades ago, etc.

But maybe we're not quite to the age of glorifying the past.

Epstein's flight logs show him going from Palm Beach to NYC or vice versus more than a decade prior to Epstein's first conviction. There isn't anything indicating he went to pedo island. Not saying he didn't. Obviously a lot of people you would hope would be decent went to pedo island,.

RE rape: It was only sexual assault, largely because of the very specific way that NY law defines rape, but still that's semantics.

This is just incorrect. He wasn't convicted of anything. He lost in a civil trial in New York for an incident that allegedly happened more than 25 years before. I certainly don't know what happened in 1995 or 1996 between the two, but of course neither do the jurors. It's usually hard to determine what happened in he said/she said cases close in time to when they happened. It's pretty much impossible 25 years later. There's as much reason to think Trump digitally penetrated a woman without consent as there is with Biden. WHich is they've both been alleged to have done it, but long after it could really be proved either way.

And, I genuinely believe that this is a time for country over party to ensure that we have a democratic country going forward and that many on the far right are goose-stepping along intentionally while some of the good people in the normal right are doing so unwittingly...
This is absurd. There are plenty of things to not like about Trump and I'm certainly disappointed that he's going to be the GOP candidate, but other than orange man bad, there's just zero reason to worry about Trump ending democracy when Biden is the alternative. Neither is really fit for office, but Trump is never going to have a DOJ that will engage in political prosecutions for him, he's not going to have a corrupt FBI or IRS do anything for him, he's not going to have media cover for him, there aren't high ranking military officials with a rightward bent willing to violate their oaths, etc.
