How can anybody not get bowl eligible in the ACC, it's a joke of a football conference, a completely different scenario than playing in the SEC; just ask ol' Jimbo. If you think Clemson and Dabo would be anywhere near where they are now if they were in the SEC, well you are delusional. Schedule and conference matters, that's why any ACC team with one loss should never be considered for the playoffs, especially when the loss is against an unranked team. That said, USC is trying to rebuild a team that was decimated by a terrible coach and some very bad decisions; trying to get to the point of being a more competitive football team year-in and year-out. That's the short-term goal, it's a process, surely you remember that during the pre-Dabo era at Clemson, it hasn't been that long ago. We may not ever do that, we may never even get back to the 11-win seasons and 5 straight wins over Clemson like we had in Spurrier's time, but if we were in the ACC, I assure you it would be a much easier task. But for you to take the comments of one or two posters on here and put your own words in their mouths is shameful; why would a Tiger fan be on here doing that, I mean, get a life, go cry with all the other Clemson whiners this morning, it is hilarious. There is not a single USC fan on here or anywhere that is content with winning 6 games and going to a low-tier bowl game, and nobody on here said that! All they are saying is that it is a process, especially in the SEC; we have a long way to go and this is a first step, and we may or may not make it.
But your post reminds me of why I am glad I'm not a Clemson fan; biggest bunch of arrogant fans there is; biggest bunch of whiners and complainers if they don't make the playoffs every year; fans that go to the Gamecock Central website when their team loses and bash our fans and our team, and fans that live in the delusional world of thinking that beating a bunch of weak ACC teams in a weak conference means they have as good a tradition as Bama, UGA, or any other SEC team that battle week-in, week-out against real teams. Even after losses against other SEC teams, there will likely still be 5 SEC teams in the top ten, how many ACC teams in there? There will be zero, if the pollsters are honest, and the ACC teams in the Top 25 have beaten nobody, their wins are against other weak ACC Teams. Well enough wasting time on a delusional Clemson fan.
Great post and I agree, but…..there are Carolina fans who are content with just being bowl eligible.

Elon‘s offense performed comparably to ours in terms of both yards and points against Vanderbilt.

it is possible to both be glad for the win and to realize the offense still has considerable work to do.

Tennessee's performance against Georgia was similar in yards and points to our's.

See how that works?

Of course it's possible. I don't see a reasonable person saying otherwise.

I don’t know what all this talk is about us being in the ACC. Yeah we’re in the big bad tough SEC, but we get four wins in the bank every year.

In my opinion, no……I’m a diehard myself.
I'm old school, graduated from USC in 1985. I have lost a lot of my "diehard attitude" for much of college "amateur" sports; the NIL, transfer portal, the out of control coaching salaries, the politics, the player's "all about me" vs "all about team" attitudes, just the whole atmosphere around college sports, etc., have just diminished my enthusiasm. That's just me, it's just an old school thing, and I have plenty of exciting things to do outside of sports. Again, just me, and not really what this post was intended to discuss. That said, even though I don't attend the games as much in person like I used to and don't spend my time worrying about recruiting, etc., I will still never be content with a 6-win season or a mediocre bowl game.

Although I said diehard, I’m with you on diminished enthusiasm. And I attribute that mostly to me getting older but can also relate to most of your other points. Well said.

Because we don't play in that Jr High league.
I love when our fans say stuff like this and then get trounced by one of these jr high teams in our "barely bowl eligible" bowl games. While it's but the SEC, the ACC has gotten much better top to bottom IMO.

The offensive game plan only scored us 7 second half points against one of the worst defenses in the nation.

i’m glad we won, but that effort would not have beaten any other team in the conference besides Vanderbilt.
I was a little surprised we were running trick plays against them.

Kroger has more than half the number of passing yards in this one as Rattler does. On one attempt.
