Tyler Johnson with a great catch around the 5 from Allar on the last play of the 1st half. The laid out for the catch. The ref awarded the reception. On replay, it looks more like a trap

During the season this would have been incomplete. Unless it was an OSU or UMich receiver… then it would have been a catch. I am in mid-season bitching form!!’

Both D-Lines seem better than i expected anyway. With 2 TE's out ,WR1, WR 2, check down to RB's. Regular season QB's will get running yardage and first downs.

Millen had a good point about the White defense getting pressure against the OLine starters. Too early for the WE ARE DOOMED posts? 🥴

Olu is out, so it's not the OL starters. I haven't checked, but is Tang at LG? He's missed a lot of time during spring practice.

Amiel Davis with some nice runs when he has blocking. The OL for White has 2 true freshman at OT, going against the 1st team D, and they are having some issues

Blue wins, 10-0.

Not a lot to learn from the game, IMHO.

Secondary was very strong, both starters and backups.

LBers and DEs looks good. I had a tough time focusing on the DTs, so I can't speak about them except for a few plays.

RB starters didn't get a lot of time.

PSU has a lot of WR candidates (plus Dante is joining in the summer).

QBs showed some good things and some disappointing things, but they were under a lot of pressure from the D.

Biggest concern going just from the game was the OL, and Olu was out, so it would be a mistake to read too much into that, IMHO.

Penn State game ended about 20 min early. tOSU used every bit of their 2 hours. PSU could have gone with longer qtr if the clock was going to run.

WR pecking order as it seems today... (depth, not KLS, Wallace, and Cephus)

1. Evans. Sounds like he made enough plays that we might see more 4 WR sets this year (more akin to what Yurcich ran at Okie State) with flexibility.
2. Saunders. I think he could be #1 but I think Evans has better hands (from the way it sounded).
3. Meiga/McCain. Their placement on White team was interesting as they are older than the other WRs. Perhaps to see how they handled knowing they would have a tougher time.
4. Driver/Ivey/Johnson. Youth, depth. All had snaps and a reception. Hard to make much of anything they did listening.
5. Clifford. Did he get hurt on his target? Dixon lit him up, never heard him mentioned anymore. Radio said they got out injury free but I never heard him mentioned again.

How did RT go? Assuming it was Wallace mostly, but I didn't hear much.

Rojas sounds like a missile. Can DDS wreak havoc against everyone else? Shelton was no slouch last year. Durant's name called a lot.

My two cents:
D much better than O
DDS, Abdul and DBs stood out. Some young players did well.
OLine needs work but remember Olu did not play and we had freshmen as OTs for the white squad
QBs under pressure at all times. Had to throw while scrambling frequently. Were inconsistent.
Omari Evans played well and other WRs had flashes but pass game was not where it needs to be.
Glad no one was hurt.
Lots to coach between now on WVU

Not mentioned but any input this year with Barnes coaching over Scott, seems a little different on the D line, maybe it's just Manny's second year , but the D looks good across the board even into 2 deep.

Watching now - mostly agree. Kevin Winston looked really good as did the secondary as a whole. Rojas looks bigger than expected - very fast. Robinson’s name called a good bit. Lots to like on D.

Quarterbacks that can't step into their throws (because they are under pressure) make All Americans out of corners and safeties.
