I’ll take things that didn’t age well for $100 Alex.
MSU was right there in this game with 10 mins left. That’s with injuries, suspensions across their roster, as a 5-6 team with little to play for, and on the road over Thanksgiving as a 20-point underdog.

They were better coached for most of that game. Their long TD drives were great examples of systematically exploiting gaps in our schemes. Only two late PSU scores made it seem otherwise.

You have to give their staff credit. That game was closer than the final score. By quite a bit.

Well, they were playing for a bowl game. They win - they have a 6-6 record and eligible for a bowl. Probably the American Standard Toilet Bowl.

I’m a fan of well coached and well executed football.

Today wasn’t an example.

The Defense rests its case.

Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Nobody gives our staff credit when we lose close games. Why Tucker? He's Mr Portal. Should have been 11-1 this year based on the hype. Many penciled this game as a loss 12 weeks ago.

Sparty got hot in the 3rd quarter. Kudos to them. Good coaches are capable of that.

Better coaches close out the game.

It’s really as simple as that. The mistakes are chronic lapses.

10-2 is a very nice season to Tom McAndrew’s earlier point. It’s the absolute best we can hope for given the past 20 years for this program.

I think some of us see a program like Michigan post back to back 12-0 seasons (with different QBs and graduation attrition) after really being mediocre for a stretch and wonder, “why not us?”

A big difference there is the head coach and a total commitment to turning things around. Resolve and competence go a long way.

Say what you want about Tucker but his roster is depleted from the suspended players and injuries and they still competed. Didn't quit. I

Maybe, but only if he can get the talent in portal. He has no HC history of developing talent

I don’t necessarily disagree, however, with your logic then you must also give Franklin and staff credit for out coaching Day for most of that game, right?

It sure can. The OSU game was a great example where you can say PSU out coached Day and OSU for large stretches.

In the end, talent often triumphs. It did today and for OSU earlier in the year.

It was 35-16 with PSU missing two field goals and a dropped pick six….it wasn’t closer than the final score, it was actually worse. MSU had one good quarter.

They weren’t better coached. Their play calling wasn’t spectacular. We missed two FGs and they had some receivers make tremendous catches. Good god some of you will reach for anything to take swipes at our staff.

Eat more, drink more, screw more. Whatever it takes for some of you to stop being such negative f ers.

35-16 with two missed field goals and a dropped pick six (48-16)….maybe the defense should have put on a better case before testing.
MSU had some avoidable miscues too. These debates are subjective and hard to prove.

Good season for Penn State and a good win today.

Some things I found interesting in CJF's press conference:

- he really complimented the senior class, and the leadership they and the captains provided all season long
- they've already mapped out schedules for Dec for every bowl game they could possibly be in
- the players will have a few days off. Tomorrow will be their 1st Sunday off all season
- they'll start bowl practice before they know who/where they are playing
- the transfer portal is about to start up, so they'll be dealing with that as a staff
- AD will be the one that fights for which bowl game they go to
- CJF will be focused on meeting with players, recruiting, grading film, etc. during the next few weeks
- Abdul Carter's development has been fun to watch over the course of the season
- you always want to go to the biggest bowl game you can
- JPJ wasn't full go, but was cleared to play and wanted to play. CJF is proud of him being able to come back, and wanting to help the team
- thinks they have some of the best CBs in the country

Missed field goals are not hard to prove. Dropping an INT a few yards from the goal line is not hard to prove. Sometimes players don’t make plays…it’s not always on the coaches.

Perry Mason says you can’t claim point left on the field.
