Clifford was 19-24 with 4 TD passes and 0 int. Not too shabby.

We expected it from 5* Parsons. He was #1 in PA and #5 nationally.

Carter was highly rated but he was #10 in PA and #287 nationally. He has certainly exceeded my expectations.
Exactly especially on D you expect a Freshman to contribute somewhat, AC is dominant.

Some things I found interesting in CJF's press conference:

- he really complimented the senior class, and the leadership of they and the captains provided all season long
- they've already mapped out schedules for Dec for every bowl game they could possibly be in
- the players will have a few days off. Tomorrow will be their 1st Sunday off all season
- they'll start bowl practice before they know who/where they are playing
- the transfer portal is about to start up, so they'll be dealing with that as a staff
- AD will be the one that fights for which bowl game they go to
- CJF will be focused on meeting with players, recruiting, grading film, etc. during the next few weeks
- Abdul Carter's development has been fun to watch over the course of the season
- you always want to go to the biggest bowl game you can
- JPJ wasn't full go, but was cleared to play and wanted to play. CJF is proud of him being able to come back, and wanting to help the team
- things they have some of the best CBs in the country
Any word on Fashnau?

35-16 with two missed field goals and a dropped pick six (48-16)….maybe the defense should have put on a better case before resting.
The score was PSu21 MSU 16 with 11 minutes remaining

Enough with your Ludd-ite viewership of the obvious 🙄

Missed field goals are not hard to prove. Dropping an INT a few yards from the goal line is not hard to prove. Sometimes players don’t make plays…it’s not always on the coaches.
The MSU punt fumble is an example on the flip side. That led to an easy 7 for us and wasn’t on the MSU staff.

It goes both ways. The MSU coaches did a helluva a job in keeping that team competitive and within 21-16 with 10:52 left.

The reason these games are triggering for so many (me included) is that it’s THE formula for 1-2 bad losses per season over the past several seasons. MSU had done it a couple of times.

When there’s a pattern, there’s a fan narrative that the team should be better prepared and focused. That winds up on the head coach’s doorstep. It’s part of the $8 million a year job description.

Great parents. Mom’s (Dawna) story about Joe coming to the school on recruiting is great. Joe tried to take over teaching the class (math if I remember) but him trying to explain what they were doing at that point was above his pay grade. But Joe had certainly made an impression.

Losses by Clemson and Oregon. TAMU and ND giving it a go against LSU and USC. Crossing fingers!

Four 10+ win seasons in the last seven years…haven’t done that since 1993-99…that’s a pattern too.

Gotta give Franklin credit where it’s due…he won 10 games this year, which many didn’t expect.
Yes….every team has ups and downs during games throughout the season. What matters is where you end up when the dust settles. As I’ve read many times on this board (when PSU had poor records) you are what your record says you are.

PSU started the season unranked. With Oregon losing today, PSU should end the regular season in the top 10.

Sure, I would have preferred to not lose 2 games, but there was a lot to be pleased with about this season.

That some of you can only focus on the negatives, especially in game threads, has always surprised me.

We Are ... Penn State!!!
It’s really more about STATES position in the east and how nothing looks to change. Happy for 10. Awesome. But STATE is kinda irrelevant in the national convo.

How can anyone tell what he said? It’s just some idiot with a voice over.
And who cares if he did say it? It doesn’t mean he bet on the game, it just means they need to win by what they were expected to win by because of the “eye test”.

You kind of flogged that horse last week in the Rutgers game thread. I just don't see the relevance of those type of arguments in a game thread.

In today's game thread, which concluded the regular season, it's kind of natural at the end of it to reflect on the season.

Again, PSU was unranked to start the season, and looks as though they'll finish the regular season in the top 10. To me, that's the key aspect of the season.

Did PSU do as well as I wanted this year? No. I want them to be undefeated every season. But I've been around long enough to know that undefeated seasons don't happen all that frequently. So while my hope and goal each year is for them to be undefeated, I've never thrown a public temper tantrum when PSU comes up short of that level.

As to your specific point, I think you're exaggerating a bit. Michigan was below PSU for several years in the East. They (Michigan) have gotten lucky in the past two years in that they got some key OL and DL recruits, which enabled them to compete on a higher level than they had been for quite a few years. So, despite what you stated, things do change. PSU could be on the brink of flipping the narrative with the recruiting they've done of late on the OL. Will those prospects develop as expected? Who knows. Will those prospects stay healthy? Who knows. Too many variables makes it difficult for anyone to predict the future. In short, these things are not so cut and dry.

Alabama, Georgia, and tOSU have been pretty consistent as being in the CFP picture. Clemson was there but may be moving out of it. Michigan wasn't there for quite some time, and just recently has been in the picture. Nobody has a clue if they'll stay there. IMHO, PSU is on the cusp, as are a few other teams (USC looks to be moving toward that level).
