He had me a Doug Flutie.

I blasted the thought of bringing the guy in, but we might as well at this point. He is practically begging for an offer from us. I find some humor in him completely shunning the offer from USM in hopes of an offer from any "big time" school.

I recall a time, when a certain female was begging for it...she wasnt much of looker. Like favre, she had good stats (read: body...decent face) but wasnt what I wanted. Finally, I gave in and it was a great FWB experience for a few years. Maybe Favre can turn out similar

preferably Brunetti or Patterson version 2010. We can't ONLY take Favre, that would be Croomtastic. The last name and potential outweighs the risk when you're talking about one scholarship for a 2nd QB slot. And he's not exactly Henig or Ty Evans, dude straight tore up the field.

Scratch that, if he's the best on the board you have to take him. I think the only reason they are waiting is for the off chance they get Newton AND Brunetti.

...I mean, so what if he can't beat out Newton or Relf. What does it hurt to have him? Hell, Uncle Brett may donate some money to the school or something. And there's always the chance you catch lightning in a bottle. It's a no-brainer to me.

The staff is still recruiting Brunetti hard. I think we'll find more about the status of that situation after the Newton situation clears and the Wardlaws and Rosebowls of the world start focusing more on the HS QB recruits. If we end up with Favre because we couldn't land Brunetti, the staff is still doing a much better job than we are accustomed to. Wasn't there more than 1 occasion where Croom signed no QB's at all?

The guy put up record numbers at QB- while playing Safety as well. This tells me he's got some athleticism, toughness, and is a gamer. Plus, he's MS's Mr. Football. No one is going to convince me that we are going to sign 25 players better then him this year.

we get an emergency qb and a good special teams player. Best case scenario it turns out the dude can actually play qb in the SEC.

I think height can help but it's not the most important thing. If you have a QB that has great feel for the game, makes good decisions, and can throw the ball to the right spot then what does it matter? It's not like we are talking about some guy who sucked in High School. He's the damn Mr. Football for Mississippi!

ETA: It doesn't hurt that he wants it so badly. I bet he doesn't half-*** his role and then ***** about being in a nice garage for a hour.

Brunetti may be a better player, but I think there's something to be said for the fact that Favre wants to play for MSU.

I'm going to have to defer this one to Mullen and his staff. If they think that he is worth of a scholarship, fine. If they think that they can get someone better, fine.

I still doubt that Favre will ever play QB much for MSU, but who knows?

Oh hell no....we'll pass him over, he'll go to USM, and then he'll throw for 500+ yards and 6 TDs each year we play them.

Then everyone here who doesn't want to give him a shot will be pissed because 'we didn't offer him'.

We are MSU.

and got offered because he ran down a guy who intercepted him. Henig had like 1300 yds. passing for team that went 8-3. He also was about 5'9" like Tyson Lee. He was 160 lbs. soaking wet when he showed up to Starkville.

Favre won the State Title and threw for about 5000 yds. He's 5'11" and 185 lbs. right now, maybe more. And the Favre's are Mississippi citizens, not Auburn rejects who thought their rich little boy was doing poor lil MSU a favor.

Dylan "Johnson" is worth a flyer.

Pros:

1. His name recognition alone would bring exposure to the program and could lead to recruiting opportunities. (Wouldn't receiver recruits at least take a look at playing with a Favre?)
2. He would be a serviceable backup quarterback (2nd or 3rd string).
3. He would be a great scout team quarterback / practice contributor.
4. The guy has a huge chip on his shoulder. He's motivated. He wants it bad. This is something a good many athletes with huge talent have.
5. He may be willing to play other positions (defense, special teams) as time moves on and if his quarterback skills and size are proven not to translate to the SEC level. He wants a chance...if that chance doesn't work out, he'll either have to be a backup, change positions, or transfer to a smaller school. Not a huge risk there for MSU.
6. He may actually pan out and win the starting job at some point. He'll have to beat out good quarterbacks to do so.

Cons:

1. He's short.
2. As of now, he's not flexible with a position change.
3. He may not fit Mullen's system as well as Brunetti-type quarterbacks.
4. His scholarship may be needed for another signee that brings a better value proposition.

Pros >>> Cons, in my opinion. Offer the dude during his visit in January.
