I am a 2017 F150 3.5 Eco-boost owner---looks good...but dont expect to get double digit miles when towing a decent load.

I am normally a "laggard buyer" with new things. With that said, I am waiting 3+ years (kid graduates out of state tuition) to then look at seriously trading in for the electric F150. Hopefully the technology improves and I feel more comfortable.

I’d love one, but $$$$$
So, here is the thing - the base model starts at $40K, with a 260 mile range (with 1000 lb payload in the bed). Even if you gussie it up a bit, and come up to $50K, you may still get a bargain -considering you won't put gasoline in it. Plus I think there are still government incentives which help reduce the cost.

Well, it does have a 10,000 towing capacity, and you would expect to get less range pulling 10,000 lbs. just as you would expect to get less fuel mileage in a gasoline truck pulling 10,000 lbs. But, since it's electric - no loss of performance.

I think Ford hit one way out of the park on this one. I am not a pick up truck guy, but this really caught my eye. I would hope they can transition the platform to SUVs (perhaps even bring back the Excursion) and it will be a great vehicle to have.

Yes when I used to pull my boat and trailer weighing around 9000 pounds doing 65mph I would get 9mpg😩

Yep UT costing me $60k per year …..I offered my son a Porsche and X dollars of money in mutual fund account if he went to U of FL….would have cost me less than 15k year all in! Him and his mother wanted out of state 🤣
Which Porsche? Can’t stop configuring a 718 base cayman. It’s like crack.

Ford has had a ton of production issues on other new products. I’d expect virtually no supply and dealer markups out the wazoo.
That's valid. But having this concept of using their most successful vehicle in the electric segment, and making it's looks and usability recognizable to their core market segment is huge.

Even it takes a while to get here, I think they will do very well with this vehicle.

Is this your first truck? I find them to be eminently practical vehicles. I don't know if you have any toys other than the motorcycles, but I doubt you'd have any problem with them with that. I don't know when that truck is coming to production, but I have found it to be very intriguing since I first saw it.

Not sure if this was directed to anyone in particular, but I will answer

I have never owned a pick up truck - never really had the use for them. Truth be told, I still don't. However, I find this to be intriguing because as mentioned before, Ford took it's #1 product and introduced it in a new space, but still made it look and feel like something it's core market will be familiar with. If they took this platform to the SUV market, it would be amazing for them.

Other than the motorcycle, I have a Miata as a toy. And, God willing sometime in the next 12-18 months, I will have a small plane.

I really like what Fords doing honestly. Other than killing the Fiesta ST and Focus RS, I think they've done a great job revamping their lineup lately. Really like my wife's bronco sport (although I still think its overpriced) and I secretly think the Maverick is really cool and if I was in a position to have a 3 car setup would consider the super base model that costs like 20k as a beater. They hit the new big broncos out of the park. Unfortunate for them that all of these product launches coincide with massive supplier shortages. The GT350 is a gem.

Most of their dealers are super happy to apply ADM to their vehicles unfortunately.

I'm involved with designing some of the special pieces for the F-150 Lightning and have been in the auto industry my whole career. Ford is really going all in on electric vehicles and has reacted to the strong customer interest in the electric F-150 by increasing investment in additional capacity. The price on the vehicle is low in comparison to other electric vehicles since the majority of parts are shared with the much higher volume gas F-150. The main differences are the electric drivetrain, unique frame and the independent rear suspension.

If you read some of the reviews of the Ford Mach-E Mustang (electric), you will see that Ford has done a really good job in that vehicle and the vast majority of customers are very happy. I would expect that the F-150 Lightning will have similar glowing reviews once it is in production. Given the maximum production capacity and the number of preproduction orders that Ford has received, if you order a truck today, it will be about 1 1/2 - 2 years before you receive your vehicle. Given that time delay, you should not have any concerns about any early quality issues that might happen (Ford does have this program under a microscope so problems should be minimal). I'm not sure what the Ford product plans are, but I know that you won't have to wait too long for the all-electric SUV's to be available as Ford has announced multi-billion dollar investments in new battery and electric vehicle facilities.
