We keep thinking that we are about to turn the corner, but now looking back at our "signature wins" the last 2 years, if one takes a deeper look at those wins, there are some factors that now suggest otherwise.
2021
UF - This team had just quit on Muellens, and we catch them the next week.
Auburn - We catch Auburn having to use their backup QB and in his first start ever.

2022
UK- UK starting QB is out for the game, and the UK offense looks anemic.
TAMU - The team is unquestionably a mess.

I know that all of the above is part of the game, and there are injures all the time every year, but I can't help but think we are more the benefactor of good fortune than true team improvement.

Feel free to flame away.

Let's be honest: we're going to the Levis Bowl this year (this is assuming a win over Vandy, but not even that is in the bag). His injury was the difference between this team getting 5 wins or 6 wins. I downplayed his injury at the time because I was happy to finally beat UK, no matter how it happened, but we all know we lose that game if he plays, even if we had all our defenders.

There was a good bit of smoke and mirrors to us getting to 5 wins.

You mean go to a bowl with a losing record? Might as well have a "Loser All-stars Bowl" for two lucky losers every year -- it would be more meaningful.

Of the 4 games you listed as "signature wins", Auburn had a losing record that year, and through 7 games, A&M has a losing record this year.

That means half the "signature wins" were against bad teams. Throw in the cluster that UF was, and we've had ONE signature win, imo.

Not going to flame. Just going to remind you of the "He needs more time" crowd. We've been "turning the corner" for about 100 years now.......the "He needs more time" crowd might be onto something. <eyeroll>

Meanwhile….Chadwell won conference championships in no later than year 3 in D2 (N Gville) FCS (Charleston Southern) and FBS (Coastal) and his offenses have been efficient, simple, consistent and high scoring. And hes 6-1 at Coastal right now and currently up 21-0 on Marshall.

That's why i used quotations. At the time the fan base was using those wins against the "name" brands as evidence we were turning the corner. But as I suggested and you pointed out, those were not good teams.
