This "win at all costs" and "no matter what" attitude gives the impression that Satan would be acceptable if he is a winner.
Winning a ball game is not worth selling your soul for.
I do want to win but there are standards and qualifications with that desire and some things are not acceptable.
There are winning coaches who are like minded.
Well said. 100% agree. We have the best of both worlds with Beamer and Staley. Not sure you could find two better coaches to represent the university.

I'm in Greensboro cheering for my other school. Tony Bennett has proven that you can do the right thing and win. Staley showed it too, and Beamer appears to be a man of character who is building a strong foundation for a successful program. I am proud that coaches like Staley and Beamer represent my alma mater, and I look forward to seeing what Paris can do.

Some SC fans would hire their daughter's rapist if it assured a championship. Makes me wonder if they apply the same ethical standards to their professional work, raising their children, etc.
Me too.

These are normally the guys that never played a sport at a high level or don't understand the process. They just want what they want and don't want to be part of the solution.

These clowns refuse to invest in NIL but they are win at all cost guys. Why don't they invest in NIL instead of pumping their chest on this board? It's easy to ***** and moan from the sidelines rather than investing in the solution.

I'm not suggesting everyone should invest in NIL but don't suggest win at all cost but sit on the sidelines when it comes to investing in player recruiting.

I think there's a middle ground somewhere between rapist and angel, right?

In this case, it's a person who has had charges dropped, and won't plea, or stand trial. He's not even acquitted, he just had the charges dropped.

Isn't that a few steps below hiring your daughters rapist?

I never compared Beard to a rapist, but at least one fan wrote that they would hire a serial killer if it brought SC a championship. It's that win-at-all-cost attitude and similar responses that prompted my original post. Winning is important but so is sportsmanship and winning the right way.

I do not have enough information about Beard to comment on him specifically. He may have been falsely accused, or his fiancé may have felt pressured to recant her story.

I agree on the "not enough information".

As for the rapist comment, it seemed to me that you were drawing a parallel to people wanting Beard to people who would hire the rapist.

I was wrong apparently, my fault .

One thing I will say about Carolina when it comes to hiring coaches. We are always at the alter waiting on that beautiful girl to come down the aisle. If she has a scarlet letter on her dress, we don't want her. So, we often end up taking the girl past her child-bearing age or one who needs a bag over her head, That's not always the case but, too often is.

I still think BJ McKie was the winning hire and I'm not sure why we chose not to make that move.

Nah, too risky. He would excite some of the older fan base, but the younger fans don't know anything about him. He has no head coach experience. Hiring former graduates always carries the risk that you saw play out with Scott Frost at Nebraska.

Listen, I had a former Clemson coach tell me to my face that Dabo Swinney is the greatest Christian leader he had ever been around. He was resolute that Clemson did everything the right way.

Beamer might be Mr nice guy on camera but he’s got a killer instinct behind closed doors. He’s doing whatever it takes to win just like ole Dabo.

Agreed. Perception is the only reality.

"There are three things that are important to every man in this locker room. His God, his family, and the Green Bay Packers. In that order.” ~ Vince Lombardi

Tell me where "win at all cost" fits in that philisophy.

Also Vince Lombardi (though not the originator of the quote): Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing.
