After a scoreless first two minutes, Ramazanov was put on the 30-second activity clock. He did not score, giving Brooks a 1-0 lead. Then, right before break, the four-time NCAA champ blasted through a double leg on the edge to take a 3-0 lead after the first three minutes. Early in the second period, a tremendous scramble nearly led to a Brooks takedown, but Ramazanov countered brilliantly and neither wrestler scored. Brooks dropped on a single with 1:40 to wrestle but Ramazanov countered for a takedown to cut the deficit to 3-2 and threw legs in and nearly took Brooks to his back but the Team USA wrestler held on for a stalemate and no scoring.

"That shows the heart of Aaron Brooks there," NBC analyst Jordan Burroughs said.

Ultimately, though, it was not enough. In the final 20 seconds, Brooks shot on a single. Ramazanov countered, turned, and dumped Brooks with seconds to wrestle to secure the upset via two exposure points.

I can’t believe he didn’t get the 2 on the early 2nd exchange. I can’t believe he didn’t go over to give up 2 more on the bow and arrow. And I can’t believe he gave that up at the end. Just unbelievable all around. So sad. He could’ve had it.

No idea how Brooks managed not to give up any points here:

Brooks will be back to win Gold. Just hope he leaves with a medal. That’s a great accomplishment. Focus on this next match.

I am bummed. Aaron is definitely the better wrestler. Kind of got robbed on that ‘no call’ takedown.
That Bulgarian guy looked like he outweighed Aaron by 25 pounds.
I have to become less emotionally invested in these events.

Dake makes quick work of Venezuela. 10-0 in first

TD/Gut for 4

Another TD/Gut then switch directions for 2 more to end. Both TD ankle picks.

That was easy. The Shapiev dude that Brooks has to wrestle looks darn good.
I hate the passivity BS in freestyle. Mason Paris loses in first match. Damn.
Not sure why items are not posting under my username (SurgeOne). I see it in my profile. It’s great out and I can’t change it. Wondering if somehow I have two subscriptions I will email customer service

Dake scoring then pins. Looks tired, but just keeps moving forward.
