Never been but this looks pretty coolWife has me looking at igloos and cabins with plenty of open window looks at the (hopefully visible) northern lights. Actually looks pretty cool but if anyone here has done it and has thoughts to share, I'm happy to listen. TIA
Might want to check out Monty Python's song Finland. It's on their Contractual Obligation album. You can go pony trekking or camping from what I hear. Or have snack lunch in the hall. Finland has it all!
Precisly where this all got started. And then I saw its 8.1 booking rating (no category values over 9) and it got me looking at other options. But yeah, that one was really an eye catcher and remains on the list until we discover something we like more. Thanks for posting!Never been but this looks pretty cool
My wife and I have been to Finland twice. In July 1988 we spent part of our time in a very nice log cabin in Rukatunturi near the arctic circle...a ski resort area. The whole area was beautiful. If you like cool, clean, crisp air, reindeer and relative isolation, it's worth the trip. BTW, the drive from Helsinki to there took about 11 hours.Wife has me looking at igloos and cabins with plenty of open window looks at the (hopefully visible) northern lights. OK... that could be a rough drive at wrong time of year lol.My wife and I have been to Finland twice. LOL... that might be tough if wife comes along. We're thinking late march/early april while the snow is still part of the landscape and the lights are supposedly in play. Haven't looked at the logistics and while "they" shrug it off, it might not be such an easy hurdle.I've been to Finland during June to run in the famous men's Jukola relay. Saw Helsinki which was nice but spent most of the time in small towns to the north. Did not see the northern lights but it never got fully dark at the latitude where we were. The forests are pristine and beautiful.
Are you planning on partying with the Prime Minister?
