Bought a Panasonic ARC5 wet/dry shaver. Works great on a crusty old guy’s beard

My advice…. Find a good looking babe at The Phyrst on a Friday nite and ask her. it could be a great pick-up line!

Used different Norelco's for 30 years. I liked it. Decent shave but I used to be a twice a day shaver because the little lady said I got to scratchy. Then I shifted to cartridge razors. 3 blade then 5 blade. Very good shave but fairly expensive and still not a perfect shave. 10 years ago, I went to old style double edge blades. I got a Timeless Stainless razor and now my shaves are BBS (baby butt smooth). I should be saving money but I spent so much on soaps and brushes that it will take about 5 more years to break even. Also it now takes me about 3 times as long to shave. But oh how the wife loves it. Now that I'm getting older and maybe lazier I'm thinking about electric again. It's still the cheapest over time and definitely the fastest. I would still have to run it by the wife. I'd be interested in hearing what razor you decide on.

Braun series 9 pro is top rated. I bought the #2 rated Panasonic Arc 5 because it was less expensive.

IMO the key is sharp blades. Even a $50 Norelco from Target works well until the blades get dull. The problem is replacement blades can cost 70% of the price of a new razor.

Get a Braun at Costco. If you like it great, if you don't like it, the liberal return policy works great. 100% guaranteed.
Are you also the Costco customer who recently returned their 2+ year old sectional furniture because you got tired of it being grey? 😎

No but I regularly return my two year old Keurig when it malfunctions . They see how many pods I buy and say would you like two machines ?
Also occasionally the golf gloves when they blow out . XL gloves arent quite wide enough . Best value out there though if you go through gloves quickly 4 gloves for about $28. You must return four though to get credit . 😉
I have a five year old Braun shaver that I debate taking back . I forget the model but it’s not as good as the first one I got . As mentioned above replacement blades are around $70 at Target . Salty .

I use a Norelco One Blade. Best shaver and shaves ever.
Cuts through a heavy beard in just minutes. The blade is actually a flat surface and never cuts.
Great for lip, chin areas and sideburn trims. I replace the the blade every 4 months. Initial shaver is $50. 3 replacement blades for $32 on Amazon.
Have had the original shaver for 3+ years now.

I used to shave with a braun in the 90’s. Always had neck sores acne? from shaving. Friend told me shave in the shower. I did and ever since my face is beautiful, so my family tells me. Some of the best advice I ever received.

So you don't have a brain anymore?

Yes. I went the old fashioned double edge safety razor route about 10 years ago. Can't beat it price wise for sure, but yeah, you can destroy your cost savings with brushes and soaps.
I stayed with a cheap synthetic brush, but at one time did have a fair collection of soaps. Over the years though I've whittled it down to just a few.

In addition to the savings, I like the whole "ritual" part of it....the shaving bowl, the brush, a good 2 pass shave. It takes more time, but it's a great time to think. And I'll confess that when I'm in a hurry I'll do a 1 pass shave in the shower, lathering with whatever bar of antibacterial soap happens to be there.

I don't shave my face.

Reminds me a of story I heard while a student at PSU. A certain football player reportedly collected shaven down there hair from his girlfriends and put each sample in a box with labels. When I heard the story, I was thinking it was too weird of a story not to be true.
