I live the High Life whenever possible. If it is supper time, it is Miller time!

There is definitely a non-zero chance of that being true...pretty sure we're banned from Batsto from singing it too often/loudly.

Me, Fat Tire. I brought this up because some people mentioned drinking Guinness for the Super Bowl. Guinness is not Guinness outside of Ireland. (The difference is undeniable.)
Love me some Molson Canadian or Moosehead. Miller Lite for day drinking though.

That said, I had some Guinness last night. I actually prefer Guinness cans over even tap Guinness (other than the Guinness(es) I had in Ireland!).

How much of an on-tap Guinness is the result of the quality of the pour?

I have no idea. I’m a beer drinker but the science of it is beyond me. I find the taste of Guinness on tap in America has more of a coffee taste than the creamier tasting Guinness I had in Ireland.
I did take note that in Ireland, some (maybe all? I only recall it for sure a couple of times) places seemed to pour their Guinness in two parts. Poured about half full, let it rest, than finished off the second half straight into the middle of the glass, not on a tilt. I really want to go back.

David Chang on beer and food pairing:

Chang tells GQ that while cheap beers like Bud Light aren't necessarily tasty like a craft beer, they pair well with "all food." He even puts a finer point on this blanket statement by pointing to the fact that "...cheap beer and spicy food go together like nothing else. Think about Natty Boh and Old Bay-smothered crabs. Or Asian lagers like Orion and Singha and Tiger, which are all perfect ways to wash down your mapo tofu." He's right, cheap beer pairs well with what we like to eat, and it's easy on the pocketbook. Enough said.

I really, really love a dry, salty Japanese beer (Sapporo, Orion, Kirin) with spicy Asian food (fried rice, pad thai, etc.). Nearly any other time I'm good with a Yuengling.

My tastes drift around so much over time that I really couldn’t name one. In general though, the richer the food the cleaner and crisper I like my beer. Brut IPA like B43 outta Michigan cuts through a lot of fat. This month I’ve been liking Chicago’s Revolution Brewing’s lager called Cold Time if I’m not craving something else I have on hand. The now-defunct Metropolitan Brewing had a great copper lager called Dynamo during their run.

Some bars in Ireland use separate lines specifically for Guinness. I have found that a nitro can of Forged (Conor McGregor beer) is a nice alternative to Guinness. I also enjoy a nitro can of Boddington’s.

When in Cork, drink Beamish. I say Beamish > Guinness.

If I'm not on tap w/ Yuengling, I like the original Michelob Light. This beer was everywhere in the 80's and 90's, now it's actually hard to find. Very tasty beer.

+1. Michelob and Michelob Light were very good, they also had a dark beer that was very good. Now the only Michelob I can find is Ultra and no way am I drinking that.
