First, The Wire. It's been mentioned a couple of times before, but it can never be repeated enough. The most amazing narrative achievement I've ever seen on television.<div>
</div><div>Go ahead and catch up on Breaking Bad. Three seasons on DVD, the fourth airing now, the fifth and final season coming in a year or so. </div><div>
</div><div>The Shield. Seven seasons. Solid from beginning to end, peaking with season five and the last half of season seven. Has what is possibly the best series finale I've ever seen.</div><div>
</div><div>Sherlock is the only one I can think of that is streaming right now. There are only three episodes, but each is 90 minutes long. It's a Sherlock Holmes adaptation that takes place in contemporary London. The idea of a modern Holmes put me off from watching the show at first, despite the high praise for the show, but being on instant watch I decided to give it a shot one day. Terrific series. Unfortunately it will be quite a while until the next season (of three 90 minute episodes) airs in the US.</div><div>
</div><div>I've been watching Six Feet Under this summer from start to finish. A very solid series. I'm on the fourth season, which has been underwhelming, but supposedly the final season is top notch. </div><div>
</div><div>Now that Mad Men is on instant I'll probably start it next. Also planning to watch Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones when they are released on DVD. </div>
