Been fortunate to go to 5 of the CMA’s in the last 10 years and yes you’re right, those 3 are smoking!
Don’t particularly like some of the “new country” artists and sound but thank goodness for Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton and these country women!

It's been a good show sensing some Texas and new outlaw sound influence

I'm sensing mainstream radio BS
Cody Johnson won big and performed and after years he's just now getting recognized by Nashville.

Jamie Johnson performed and Nashville has turned their backs on him since they veered towards pop and pretty people.

Brooks and Dunn won to the dismay of country pop duos.

Red Clay Strays were nominated along with others who don't get noticed.

Didn't say it changed Nashville back to the 70s but it did move in the right direction for once.

His off radio stuff is better though
Jamey Johnson's album dropped last week and it's outstanding!
Screw Brooks and Dunn, this ain't 1990
The Strays will headline next year. They just sold out both Wharf shows for July.
Zach Bryan, Tyler Childers etc got no recognition.
Bryan is the top draw in music right now.

I watched the George Strait part of last night's show and a little bit of Eric Church. Most traditional country is only played in pockets. You won't find it on the CMA awards. That pretty much goes for every kind of music out there. You won't find traditional forms of any music on the current playlists.

Jamey Johnson got arrested.

He may not be able to support his album with a tour.

Sturgill, Tyler Childers, Brent Cobb, Ryan Bingham and many others disagree
I know there are. But I don’t get the attraction to Sturgill and Tyler. As someone mentioned, Jamey is great. One good one that never gets mentioned is Whitey Morgan. I’m late to the game, but just discovered Blackberry Smoke a couple years ago. More Southern Rock but more Country that 99% of the acts out there and a great live band.

It's out there if you look for it....hard to find on the radio or actually in Nashville but it's alive and well. Cody Jinks, Cody Johnson, Wade Bowen, Randy Rogers Band, William Clark Greene, Stoney LaRue, Turnpike Troubadours, Flatland Calvary, etc.
Oliver Anthony , too.
