“We have different attributes,” Sanders said. “Smart, tough, fast, disciplined with character. Now, quarterbacks are different. We want mother, father. Dual-parent. We want their kid to be 3.5 [GPA] and up, because he has to be smart. Not bad decisions off the field, at all. Because he has to be a leader of men.

Also stated he wanted OL from stable, dual-parent homes, but he wants DL from single-mother homes.

Interestingly, of course, his criteria for recruiting QBs would eliminate his own son who just happens to be the CU QB since Deion has been twice divorced and isn't currently married.

Watching the interview, I'm not sure how serious much of it was...folks were laughing when he got the part about DL...but opposing coaches look for any edge in recruiting, so I'm sure the dual parent thing will come up in recruiting battles.

That is probably more likely than not. All depends on if he and his staff can coach guys up. As of now, he's recruiting based on being "Prime" but eventually results will come into play. No doubt, JSU was a much easier place to win by bringing in a few high profile guys and simply out-talenting other teams. At CU he's gonna have to win by coaching. He's an unknown as far as that's concerned.

Not a good recruiting image projection beyond the "Prime" moniker. Very revealing in terms of the man behind the moniker.
And you are right, he's now got to coach to win.

It's somewhat of a unique situation so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out. I can't recall any new CFB coaches who recruited 100% based on their name. SOS, of course, had great name recognition when he came here, but his name recognition was due to his previous coaching success. Deion's name recognition is 100% b/c he was a flashy NFL player 2 decades ago. Maybe he can coach or maybe he'll just have an eye for assistants who can coach.

If a white man said this, he would already be fired as they would’ve made a racial issue out of the comments. These are things we all know to be true about the QB position. Not that there aren’t exceptions. But it is certainly advantageous to have a QB with a high IQ, particularly to run the offense.

I did not think about that, but you’re dead on. If a white coach said he wanted a smart quarterback from a two-parent home, that would’ve automatically been assumed to be racist.
