Jesus H Christ on a pogo stick. Don't you put that evil on me, Ricky Bobby.Mike Lindell for Secretary of Commerce. Make it happen.
YepI wouldn't be so sure about that. Better brush up on your recess appointments clause. By electing Thune as Leader, the Senate gave a clear signal that it will not be dictated to. Thune is McConnell minus 20 years.
Recess appointments won't happen if there is no recess.
Honest question that I fully anticipate a bunch of snark, but let’s put on our big boy pants for a second:
If Gaetz is stepping down to avoid this “bipartisan” sex scandal investigation because it ain’t looking good for him, he avoids further possible punishment from Congress. But if it is indeed true, these allegations should warrant actual law enforcement, not Congress. What I’ve seen in trying to understand is the ”YEARSlong investigation“ was actually dropped so what is it he’s facing now? It obviously isn’t some “sex with a minor” or “sex trafficking” since the feds aren’t going after him.
He may fully be a sleazebag and it wouldn’t surprise me. I think Trump is as well. But I also imagine 99% of our elected officials are. Some just hide it better than others. Just color me skeptical after the whole Russian collusion and other hoaxes that have happened the past 7 or so years.
So basically, what has he actually done?
Can we drink again if I call it the uniparty?deep state ! Drink!
Someone said the Gaetz pick was a FU from the administration for the Thune pick
I can’t believe Nancy let that slipSecretaries wear skirts. What's the problem?***
LOTR memes are in the other thread
No telling and not worth rehashing the twitter rumors. For me, with some of the on record comments from people of his own party then there must be some legs to "it". Whatever it is. People generally protect their own party. With him, I'm not sure they would piss on him if he were on fire. Is that bc of something objectively illegal or did he just piss off the wrong egos? No real clue. Backstabbing seems commonplace. He must have crossed some kind of line that would be party damaging should it become public. With today's moral standards in politics - must be something pretty awful.Honest question that I fully anticipate a bunch of snark, but let’s put on our big boy pants for a second:

You are at the right message board.I was hopeful and now disappointed.
True statement. I have a theory though. Since this thread is chaos I'll toss it out there.I wouldn't be so sure about that. Better brush up on your recess appointments clause. Gaetz is probably the only nominee that could have problems. He has friends on both sides of isle supporting him and apposing him. I think it is 50/50 he makes it. If they still had the 60-vote threshold to get cabinet nominees through the senate he would not even have a chance. I think it comes down to what is in the house investigating committee have in their report or recess appointment.True statement. I have a theory though. Since this thread is chaos I'll toss it out there.
I think the new Senate will want their cake and eat it too. They want to publicly grumble about questionable nominations. Greatest deliberative body and all. But they also want to give Trump what he wants without potential resistance that comes from the vetting process. Who wants to be bothered by The People? Pests.
Solution? Create some bogus reason to recess that Senate / House can't simply agree on and let Trump do it for them via Article II / Sec 3. Recess appointments made and senate can wipe their hands clean. "Well, I'm disappointed with the way it panned out, but my hands were tied".
That or Trump is 17ing with us and wants us to feel better when the final nomination goes to one of his personal attorneys.
I think it's pretty likely he didn't violate any laws. If they could have even painted it as possible, they would have charged him just for ***** and giggles.Honest question that I fully anticipate a bunch of snark, but let’s put on our big boy pants for a second:

Really depends on what kind of promises Thune made that he feels obligated to stick to. McConnell would hold pro forma sessions just to thwart Trump. Thune presumably would too unless he made some promises not to and believes breaking them would hurt him personally.True statement. I have a theory though. Like in 2014 when Obama did it ? its right there if Trump elects to do it, and from all reports/legal opinions, there is nothing that can prevent it.I wouldn't be so sure about that. Better brush up on your recess appointments clause. By electing Thune as Leader, the Senate gave a clear signal that it will not be dictated to. Thune is McConnell minus 20 years.

ETA: I think recess appointments probably shouldn't be allowed anymore, or they to the extent they are, they should be truly temporary stop gap appointments, not two year ones. But they should have changed the process a long time ago, not just decide to change it when Orange Man Bad comes onto the scene, although to their credit, I think they kept the same rules in place through Biden also.
I hope that is the reality. Thune seems like the best case to preserve some sanity in process.Really depends on what kind of promises Thune made that he feels obligated to stick to. This is just stupid. As partisan as the DOJ and FBI have gotten, you think they just gave him a pass?Yeah yeah his buddy was accidentally 17n a 17 year old.
no way he was not a chance none whatsoever
I got caught smoking cigs in high school but it was my buddy who was smoking I was just standing by him and holding the cigarette and occasionally took a drag
But he was smoking not me mom I swear
This is just stupid. As partisan as the DOJ and FBI have gotten, you think they just gave him a pass?
They would have loved to tag him. And it's not really surprising to me that he didn't leave himself in a position to be prosecuted, as sleazy people often know the law pretty well related to the areas they are sleazy in. I can't tell you when the line is crossed between a sugar daddy relationship and prostitution according to the law, but I bet the guys running around picking up late teen girls can tell you pretty clearly, especially if they are lawyers.
They were stupid then and they are stupid now.
So why did he resign? This is just stupid. As partisan as the DOJ and FBI have gotten, you think they just gave him a pass?

Wow that is a dizzyingly spun article.Gaetz accusations
What happens when you rock the boat too much.
Gaetz has friends on both sides of the aisle? I dont follow the guy and only know him from random crap short vids that are pushed to me, but that is shocking to read.Gaetz is probably the only nominee that could have problems. He has friends in both the Democrat party and Republican Party. That's not laughable. As I said he has 50/50 chance of getting confirm. I would say it is even better. The Republicans in the Senate will do what Trump ask. They saw the numbers. He has the working class behind him. His election opened eyes but yes there will be people who like him who will not think he is the guy. Again, not laughable.Gaetz has friends on both sides of the aisle? Gaetz has friends that oppose him?...thats even more wild than hearing he has friends on the left that support him.
No kidding, when that was announced I honestly expected her pop up as a nominee for something.Up until yesterday I rarely ever heard Gaetz' name without hearing Marjorie Taylor Greene's name in the same sentence. That in itself is enough to disqualify him with me. ***
MAGA crowd calling ANYONE a RINO is off the chart irony.I just can’t with you magats and your cute little nicknames and slogans
Rinos and deep states oh my
17 now I’m doing it
So why did he resign?
But he probably was hooking up with girls that saw him as a sugar daddy, and he more or less admitted that he was "generous" with his dates and would fly them places and buy them things. And one of his running buddies was stupid and gross enough to do that with a 17 year old. And if there was a 17 year old, I suspect there were 18 to 22 year olds also. Nothing illegal about that, even if they are crossing state lines, but still not something a lot of people aren't going to like and if resigning actually keeps details from coming out (which I'm skeptical will be the case), then I can see him wanting to avoid that.
Remember when Schumer said the IC has "six ways from Sunday at getting back at you"? I do. And he was right.Wow that is a dizzyingly spun article.
The problem with government now is that it is owned by money and not voters. Fix that, and better government will follow.I'm old enough to remember a businessman with no political experience whatsoever was elected president and ran the country damn well for four years. The government is broken and doing the same crap every four years ain't gonna fix it. Let the brainwashed and big government folks clutch their pearls and enjoy the ride.
