OT: I have never seen a blizzard warning for Lake Charles, LA and a snow storm path taking out so many deep southern states ...

Back in my working life, I usually had to travel to Houston, Beaumont and Lake Charles.

Watching the southerners navigate the highways during an annual snow event was a true treat for a northerner.

Yee Haw as some guy in his pickup truck hit an above grade crossing.

I will also add that maybe the coldest I have ever been was walking through a South Texas refinery during one of those events.
Temperature, humidity and wind created the "perfect storm" and even this Yankee was shivering.

I spent a ton of time along the Houston ship channel, and I recall one trip that was 19 degrees and windy. I had to be out in it all day, and despite being a PA native, I'm not sure I've ever been that chilled to the bone.

Places near the french quarter are nearing a foot of snow....crazy
Friend of mine sister is outside of NOLA and she is at 12.5 inches of snow and still coming down.
They aren't prepared to handle those amounts by a long shot.
His sister said Arkansas is sending all their plows they can. Last time this amount fell they were out of school he said for a week in the 70s.

It won't be easy but we'll survive somehow. It's going to be in the 50s (brr) this weekend so we'll thaw.

Before then, SNOWMAGEDDON!

I was leaving briar creek Applebees on my way to another store and turned in that road then said omg and got off. Those cars were stuck for days.

The district I work for in KY just went back in person last Thursday. A full week and a half after Christmas break. And we have another NTI day tomorrow due to cold temperatures.
