Well....the good news is Boeheim won't be coaching any more games this season! Both his kids are done as well...

Not defending Bilas but he did say that the refs should have reviewed the play immediately and that Buddy B. should have been tossed from the game. Had the refs done that the issue would have been settled. But he did say that he thought the kid should have been reprimanded and allowed to play today. I did not agree with that statement. The refs screwed up...he should have been given a flagrant 2 and tossed. Now..a precedent has been set...

So if the refs don't see a sucker punch there should never be a suspension. Got it. Good call.

FSU dude had a cheap shot shoulder/hip check on him immediately before that. The punch was a love tap. Double technicals and should have been done with it and played on.

Rabbit sucker punches are to the back of the head ... this was a love-tap punch to the gut after the FSU dude flew in and dropped a shoulder and hip checked him under the guise of boxing out. 2 cheap shots. The end.

Obviously, you root for Syracuse. To most people ......shoving and throwing any kind of punch are not even in the same ball park......and don't think for a minute he wasn't trying to nut punch him.......he just couldn't find it.

When did I say you did? The refs did not see the play, so there was no call. So Bilas, goes in to the BS of .....well the refs didn't do this and didn't do that BS so there should be no suspension. Delusional.

bullsheeott .... the FSU kid was playing physical / using his body to position ... that’s part of the game under the boards

”Buddy” , like a puss, responded with a closed-fist punch to that kid’s abdomen and summarily scooted away like a ***** ...

i know guys like Buddy ...

A few years ago when the whole "coach in waiting fad" hit, Syracuse was having a rough stretch. So, our boy Boeheim named Mike Hopkins as his successor (this was done to apease the major boosters). Long story short, Syracuse had a flukey good year, Boeheim said forget all that coach in waiting stuff (because that is the kind of guy he is). Hopkins had enough and took the Univ of Washington job. With Boeheim, it is ALWAYS somebody else's fault.

Definitely don't root for Syracuse. In fact, I almost always actively root against them (unless they play someone else I dislike more, then I root for both teams to lose ... somehow). Hate Boeheim.

It was pretty straightforward. It wasn't a even a full punch. Still uncalled for, still should have been T'd up, but this outrage over it is WAY overboard. And, it wasn't "shoving" ... it was blasting hard into the side of someone ... lowering a shoulder and blasting into them with the shoulder and the hip. Same ballpark.



Look at that from the 18 second mark. Double technicals and move on.

I used to bang underneath. I was a power forward who wasn't particularly tall, and I couldn't jump ... so I was physical in order to get position for bounds. There was lots of contact, bumping and jockeying for positions. Elbows happened (usually not by me). Lots of fun stuff. You played on. What the FSU guy did was clearly over the line ... it was a cheap shot. Buddy was an idiot for responding so blatantly after the fact. He should have just extended his elbow back and jumped up and caught him in the chin (as happens all the time), the next time he had an opportunity, and caused far worse contact without looking like he was trying to harm.

I played basketball too. Never punched one person ever in any way. If I did punch anyone in any way I would have expected to be suspended. So I don't agree with you. Jay Bilas is an idiot for in effect saying ......if the refs don't see it ......don't suspend.
