Yeah, I had a similar experience when Roberto Clemente died.On the day after that tragedy I was on a bus with my dad going to a Steeler game. My Dad is telling me what he heard on the radio. A woman in front of us turns around in tears and says her son goes to Marshall.
Not on the team, but is worried about some friends on the team.
As a little kid that sure humanized to me how tragedy can strike any one.
Not to make this too depressing a thread, but what an awful day 12-31-72 was. First the Steelers lose to the Dolphins in the AFC championship game and then my favorite athlete dies doing an amazing humanitarian deed. Have not been such a fan of baseball since.Yeah, I had a similar experience when Roberto Clemente died.
