OT: Orthopedic Dog Beds

So, I finally won the battle over the dogs being allowed on the couch. My primary compromise was that I would personally research and purchase really good dog beds for them to lay on instead of the couch.

I’ve kind of narrowed it down to Big Barker, Orvis, and K9 Ballistics (though part of me wants to buy a “Mississippi Made” one from Hollywood Feed).

I have a Great Pyrenees mix that’s getting up there in years and a German Shepherd mix that has signs of hip dysplasia, so I need something with orthopedic support for those 2. The 3rd guy is a total ragamuffin that will sleep literally anywhere, but whatever I get will be the same for all 3.

Anybody here have any experience with any of those brands or have a suggestion for an orthopedic dog bed?

K&H coolin’ comfort bed. My Newfoundland loves it. My neighbor has a Great Pyrenees and she loves it too

I’ve bought 3, maybe 4 beds for my chocolate lab.
I bought the last one about about 6 months ago.
And I do mean the last one.
He enjoys taking them out of his kennel and ripping them to shreds.
My wife will give in to him and buy him another one though I’m sure.
He much prefers sleeping on the hardwood floors or the hard plastic mat in his kennel.

My dog is a 60lb shepard / huskie mix and She loves her elevated bed. It is similar to the picture in that it is a folding bed. They also exist as fixed beds. I don't know if it is considered "orthopedic" but it has lasted for about 4 years now. She has tore up pillow type beds.

Don't really have any suggestions for the bed, but I will tell you I've worried that we're ruining our kids with how spoiled we are letting them become. I'm still worried about that, but rather than do anything about it, I'm just going to continue on the same track but make myself feel better thinking how at least I'm not like the people in this thread, and at least my kids won't make me pick up their literal **** after we've finished spoiling them.**

If you want a bed that lasts forever then K-9 ballistics is the one. I have 2 that I have had since 2014. They still look brand new and have been thru 3 dogs. I don’t recommend the Kevlar cover though. My dogs never liked that material.

Is this one of those situations where I make fun of your refrigerated dog food and you kick me out of your house. I still stand with the people making fun of it.

I'd rather have a stinky house with dogs than a pristine house without them, but either my house doesn't stink or everybody I've ever asked has lied to me. It helps that I don't have a shred of carpet in my house, though. If it does stink and I've been lied to dozens of times over the years, I don't really care.

Your house definitely stinks. Dogs eat poop and pee on the floor. Disgusting.

I use sofa throw that I can wash as I wish. And there are carpet powder deodorants you can put on rugs then vacuum up. But I rarely use it as my current dog rarely smells unlike others I have had. But anyone that is anti dogs being in the house…..well they can stay away. I don’t care.

My eldest minature dachshund, who by age is now eligible for a drivers license, says a soft bed is good… but definitely don’t skimp on the soft blanket they can scratch and mold into the shape they want.

I've been banned for the exact same things glfer does on here on the reg. And hes still sporting his original username.

You can toss in horshack just not as often but just as dumb.

Maybe try that out?
