The owners have the risks….players under guaranteed contracts don’t. I would say the offer is quite fair. But then again…I don’t care about mlb
The concept applies regardless of the industry.

Professional team owners have zero risk. Zero. Once you can afford the cost of admission (which is reserved for only the most wealthy) - there is no safer investment (or place to store your billions) in the world than a professional sports team in America (MLB, NFL, NBA). They never lose value, and in fact only increase in value each year. And if that wasn't enough, they pay what are essentially dividends each year as they turn profits most years (and are always profitable when looked at over several years - sometimes they spend more than other years on capital projects, more salary, etc).

I pretty much stopped watching professional sports years ago because of all the drama with political propaganda. Same with the Olympics.

College football all that I watch.
You would think that they would realize what a turnoff that is to a lot of fans. I watch sports to be entertained not to see some demonstration of the flavor of the week.

You're in luck! These "demonstrations" are wildly misreported (and by that I mean they were made to seem ubiquitous to all sports by some outlets, when in reality most were a short-lived, time and place kind of thing). In 99.9% of all games you won't see any demonstrations or protests - the players are too busy playing. Even if you were talking about anthem protests before a game (something you never have to see either, especially when watching games on TV) - those have all but stopped (save a one off here or there).

So go back to watching sports - the entertainment is waiting for you!

I get it. The only thing I can say is that players are always the ones getting pilloried about money. Nobody complains about the astronomical profit owners make. I know that does not help but it helps me remember that the owners are...... well i’ll just stop
You can make that much too, go buy a sports franchise…

Yeah, the media love to play up the negative side of things. Want to get political but will restrain myself.
