It would be one thing if it were 1 or 2 performers. But, it was a huge Broadway style show presentation of dozens of performers. I saw one white guy singing a song that's about 20 years old. I saw no other race or minority except one. I was born and raised color blind. But, a certain woke segment of our society, that is singularly focused on identity politics, has changed all of that. Pretty sad. I'd love to know what MLK would say because I know what we'd be hearing today if the reverse had occurred.

How about have a normal halftime (15 minutes) for the players to rest and the coaches to implement adjustments for the second half? Why does the NFL have to throw a concert which takes 15 minutes to set up and pull back down for a 7 minute "show", when the people that have been watching all year are watching for the football? Hell, I rather see the Grambling marching band do a typical halftime performance than a bunch of criminal drug dealers that call themselves musicians. The NFL uses the Super Bowl to entertain the non-football fans who are watching because it's the thing to do. They totally disrespect the football fans with this garbage.
Your timetable is completely wrong. Just stfu until you know what you're talking about

I think there were 4 primary performers. Eminem was the white guy......guess they could have invited Vanilla Ice . Mary J. Blige was the female performer...and she is as mainstream as you can get. I've got a couple of her CDs. Dr, Dre and Snoop Dogg were the other two. It was a hip-hop show with performers that most would recognize.

EDIT: My daughter corrected me. There was a 5th primary performer, Kendrick Lamar, who is currently popular.

Horrible, Worst Ever, Who watches/listens to these people. you call that talent/ music died in the 70's

Just thought I would get that out of the way for the inevitable thread later.

Enjoy the show. Ok, a least try. Ok, just the leave the room for 20 minutes. :)
30 minute halftime for the Super Bowl, Principle remains the same.
Only interested in the game itself, and that includes all commercials.

I don't understand why the Super Bowl feels the need to have a "concert" at halftime. It's the most watched program in the entire year. If you put it up against a theoretical concert by any of these artists, it would win in a landslide every time. They might as well run a sit-com at halftime.

If you want to keep viewer's attention at half-time, find one of these X-games guys who's willing to try to jump 7 school buses on his motorcycle or something.
Giving the NFL some ideas, eh? LOL.

Nobody really really wants to have that conversation! The NFL has shown that whatever the position is, IF YOU CAN PLAY, YOU WILL PLAY! Coaches want to win! Period! There is no racism in football.! If you can coach, YOU WILL GET HIRED. Fact of the matter is most white coaches couldn’t cut it in the league, so they became grad asst early on. Then have been in the system and scraping and scrapping learning the craft. Most black athletes in the league were able to go on and play. Numbers never, ever lie.
Took a while for the NFL to get there.

Show could’ve used Tonto Goldstein.

Go somewhere else to glorify violence against women, glorify prison and gun violence, and while you are at glorify drugs and alcohol. Oh yeah, don’t forget to say the N word 1000 times just because you can.
It’s plenty of rap artist that talk about positive things, don’t say the N word, and they are very good artist.

Spectacle first became tradition at the NFL's halftime show in 1993, when Michael Jackson was asked to headline. Before his twelve minutes of grandeur and intensity that year, early Super Bowl halftime shows were similar to college football halftime events — marching bands and local talent. The League noticed a missed opportunity when Fox aired an In Living Color special during 1992's halftime and captured millions of viewers.

I didn’t know this until I watched a special on YouTube about it.

When did I say that???? You tried to put rap in a box, stating that all rappers use the n word and in reality that’s not the truth. But to accuse someone of being on drugs? Yea you’re nuts.

Boy, just like I said. You had no clue who Kendrick was last night and you definitely don't own the MJB discography. Like I said you couldn't tell us any of Em's or KL's latest albums without Google with your up to the 90s prowess.
Man, I thought that was R Kelly.

But too bad we are not talking about “all the other rappers”. Pay attention kid, the focus of this is about the “rappers at the Super Bowl” try to keep up son.

I'm convinced a lot of FGF wouldn't be happy unless a Sunday school church choir performed at halftime
No we can be happy with any talent, just as long as the talent that’s being rewarded on the biggest stage ever don’t refer to women as bitc-s and ho’s, glorify drugs and shootings and gang violence.

Again, if you’re strictly talking about the performance from the super bowl and not putting rap in a box then you’re wrong again. No song they played at halftime glorified any violence, drugs, or alcohol. They also didn’t say the N word once.

Of course they did t say that on stage, never did I say they did, but their whole body of work says who they are. Again, I said the super bowl REWARDED people who have by in large made their fame and fortune on glorifying gun violence, gangs, and treating women as animals. Debate me all you want till your ignorant heart is satisfied, but please I’ll just refer you to the lyrics sung by said artists over the past 30 years! So please just shut up.

You're welcome to that opinion, but can you keep it to yourself on Gamecock sites? You're very out of touch with what young players listen to. We want this to be a place they want to come to school

These halftime shows aren't going to please everyone. I for one (Just hit 60) enjoyed the halftime show. Unfortunately, we live in a world where people will complain about anything. If it bothered people so much I suppose you could have just turned the channel for 20 mins. Next year there will be other performers and guess what...people will complain.

Normally the halftime show sucks badly. This one was pretty nostalgic for me since I graduated high school in the 90s. For me it was the best halftime show since Prince played Purple Rain in the rain.

Also I would like to add that I do love rock music from the 60s and 70s which was before my time. Hendrix, Sabbath, and Zepplin for me are the greatest performers of all-time. I absolutely loathed the hair bands of the 80s. They turned me against rock music until the grunge era started

I have no idea what you are talking about. You may go now. We were debating super bowl halftime show and rap music. Appreciate that I’m right, it is my opinion and you can do whatever you feel you need to do. You have the freedom to listen and respond to whatever you choose, that’s the problem with you youngsters, you have never been taught it’s ok to disagree with someone.

Rap music, as a whole, gets a bad rap ( :cautious: ). I can conceive of some rappers who use exclusively "clean" language, but they suffer from guilt by association.

You do realize that music is a form of entertainment right? It's no different than the action movies you watch that promote the exact same thing. If you've ever enjoyed watching Scarface, the Godfather, Good Fellas, or Casino and you complain about the violence in rap music you are being a bit hypocritical. Rap music has almost always been about story telling, well, in the past. I'm not even sure what the new mumble rappers are saying half of the time. If you think some of these rappers don't have skill, do a breakdown of some of Eminem's rhymes where he consistently rhymes multiple syllables and still comes off with coherent thought. I'm not even an Eminem fan, at least not after the 2nd album, but his skill has always impressed me. Most country and pop artists don't even write their own music, and speaking of country music, how many songs can they come up with about sitting on the back of a pickup with a pretty girl drinking beer on a Friday night?

Em's latest 2 albums are great. Also, if anyone listens to Rap God by Em you will understand he is a lyrical genius.

I bet you're the type of guy who says Lecrae and Chance the Rapper are thugs, criminals, and promote violence, too.
