Shopping Saturday, what you got?

Hot Springs Limelight. Love it. We thought about an in-ground pool but decided that a hot tub would be more practical in PA. Glad we decided on the hot tub. We use it almost all year round. Even in the summer it's nice to jump in at night after the sun goes down.

It took me a year to figure out the chemicals but after that it's been smooth sailing. Good luck!

Hey Bro,
If you plan on placing the hot tub on an existing elevated outside deck, make sure the deck is designed for live loads of 120 psf to 130 psf in the foot print of the proposed tub. Residential decks, by law, are usually designed for a minimum of 40 psf, unless increased by local codes. If your deck is a standard residential framed deck, an you install a hot tub, you will have some major consequences in the future.

We hired a landscape contractor to do a stone 9x9. Big Pete and I did ours in Hopat but I was on the right side of 55 back then. He’s also ripping out our front concrete walkway for cheap so a win.

I have a Hot Springs Pulse. I ordered it 7/11/21 and it didn’t get delivered until 6/28/22 so I haven’t even had it a year. I love it. It’s a big boy at 7 people. It’s a salt water system which I recommend.

I have a Garden Spa by Artesian. We've had it for about 18 months. We like it, but it is quite a bit of work to keep it pristinely clean, which is the only option for my wife.

We have it outside on a deck. Living in PA, it can be a challenge to pull the trigger on getting in once the temp hits the mid-30's.

One piece of advice, make sure you have a solid foundation for it before you have it delivered. Also, have a plan to empty it correctly.

EDIT: Consider the electrical connection too. Most are plug and play, but hard-wiring with higher voltage gives you better efficiency.

They gave us a sub box for ours. We had ours put in last summer. We ran everything for our patio through the sub box as well by adding breakers. I can imagine a hot tub that just plugs into a regular outlet. That would definitely trip a breaker constantly.

Edit: Also like others and you have said, OP needs to make sure they have something to put it on first. We just did concrete for ours since you can’t see under it while the rest of the patio is pavers.

That is fortunate. Finding the right electrician during COVID times was probably the most frustrating part of the purchase.

You’re telling me. Luckily I have a guy. He installed the sub box months in advance for my hot tub when my patio was put in because he ran the electrical for the patio. When they delivered my hot tub like 8 months later either they did not tell me I needed an electrician there for the install or I forgot. I almost surely forgot. Luckily my electrician is a friend and I was able to get him to my house in 20 minutes. While he was here he installed my ceiling fan in my pavilion as well. It was a good day.

That applies for every contractor over the last few years. I wish I had a person I could rely on. We've paid for some pretty shoddy workmanship over the last few years. Jobs I could have done better myself. I'm not messing with electricity though. I know my limitations.

RE: the breaker, we had ours on plug and play for the first 6 months. The breaker never tripped. You just need to make sure you have it on a circuit that supports the power draw. It's got a GFCI built into the power cable.
