What's egg prices lately? I haven't checked.

We are having a huge platter of deviled eggs tonight, courtesy of my mom-in-law

Infidel (yeah, it’s pot.kettle.black I know)

Buy it for Christmas

Eat from Christmas time (December 23 - 30 or 31)

The remainder is cooked with blackeyed peas and served with cornbread on New Years Day

Ham is fine. I’m not a fan of turkey.

You can take a non spiral cut ham and smoke it for about 6 or 7 hours and it makes a ham pulled pork that’s pretty damn good.
Inject that turkey and fry it. I didn’t care for turkey until we started frying it. Now it’s the only way we do it.

Sugar doesn't belong on hams, in cornbread, in cream corn, or in turnip greens, ever
1. A brown sugar or a honey glaze is just the icing on the cake. There are people who like just a plain ole pound cake and that’s fine.
2. There is a special place in hell for people who put sugar in cornbread.
3. Corn is plenty sweet without added Sugar.
4. Turnip greens can be bitter. If they need sugar then you should have cooked mustard greens instead.

For whatever reason, the grocery stores here in my neck of the woods in DFW put choice ribeye roast on sale for $5.95/lb this time of the year. And around the holidays. Kinda takes the guesswork out of things. Easter lunch ran me back about $18 for the main entree.
