Meanwhile Gemstones may have had the best episode ever tonight. I laughed the entire first 15 minutes.

I haven’t played the first game in years (it was released in 2013 and my last go at it was probably circa 2017) but yes that’s basically the crux of it I think. The show at the end of season 1 seemed to be very faithful to how it went in the game.

I seem to recall some flashback scenes from
TLOU2 with Abby and her dad where Abby definitely knew about the situation before it went down. But that game does a lot of bouncing around and is kinda hard to follow. I think they are addressing some of the complaints of the game in the show. For example, a big scene in S2 E1 doesn’t take place in the game until pretty late and it’s as a flashback. I am very curious to see how they structure some things moving forward. In the game, you play as Ellie for most of the first half of the game and then do a hard cut to playing as Abby for the second half, mostly in the form of flashbacks. A lot of people hated that so I’m not sure how it will go in the show.
I’m in the same boat. I played the games years ago, and it’s hard to remember exactly how they set the story up, but one thing I do remember is that they made you absolutely loathe Abby until they finally started giving you some of her perspective later on. I’m really not a big fan of how the show did all that from the get go, but oh well.

Considering how much conflict there still is regarding the casting of Ellie, I still find it funny how much the show’s Abby looks like the game’s Ellie.

Tonight felt like another set up episode
That's almost exactly what I told my daughter. She and Mrs D@A don't watch, but they were aware of my thoughts on eps 1-2. She asked me last night about it and I said it felt like a reset after what they did in episode 2. It wasn't bad, had some things I am still unsure of, and sets up well for the trip into Seattle next week.

I find it a little hard to believe that the trip from Jackson Hole to Seattle was completely uneventful, but whatever.

Finally started playing the game
