Like many others, different golf course now. I get it (they don't want -20 to win), but there used to be some rough, not scrub right off the fairways. The greens were obviously crowned back then - Ross grew up at Dornoch where they are really crowned. Now PH2 greens AND fairways are crowned, and the greens are much higher. Was invited back in 1999 to the US Open in Pinehurst when Payne Stewart beat Phil. Friend was the general manager of all lodgings at Pinehurst, and in that position gave us all access passes to everywhere on the grounds except for the players locker rooms. Watched Phil and Payne until the 16th, then ran back to the clubhouse and got out onto the balcony overlooking the 18th green. Was standing directly behind the seated USGA President when the drama unfurled. There was 6 of us standing there looking at each other like..."What the fook are we doing here".... Outstanding venue! Hope all that are going have a great time
These guys hook it into the fairway bunker but somehow their ball finds an open spot between the clumps of wiregrass. My ball would most likely come to rest right in the middle of that stuff. There's no justice in that friggin game.Donald Ross on steroids at #2. Surprised the scores are as low as they are.
or Lucas Glover. How Zach Johnson never considered Bryson for the Ryder Cup team was outrageous!
Maybe, kind of looks that way, but Bryson let everybody back in with that double on 16. Anybody but Mic Elroy.Rory and Cantlay are paired together tomorrow. Interesting pairing, as these two had some bad blood at the Ryder Cup. Can only think this helps Bryson tomorrow. I'm afraid it will turn into a Bryson coronation on the back nine with very little drama.
They were bitter he left, dude easily should have been on that team, probably Capt. America Patrick Reed as well. How Zach Johnson never considered Bryson for the Ryder Cup team was outrageous!
I hope Bryson dominates today. As long as McIIroy and Schauffele don't win.or Lucas Glover.
I'd only resort to Faxon if I scraped it around (like he did) for 72 holes and needed to make everything I looked at to eat. I kid. Sort of.With Faxon being Rory's putting coach, is there a little bias in the NBC booth? Not even factoring in the anti-Liv angle.
Salt on your balls has been known to prevent shrinkage! Not sure why the manufacturers wouldn't put this mark on the ball.
There is probably some rule that they cannot. But if not, they could sell that for a premium and it would be relatively easy to add it to the manufacturing process.
He was when this was inked, and was directly involved.Mike Davis is no longer at the USGA
I didn't know that the salt prevented shrinkage, but if you suck on them it's good for you.Salt on your balls has been known to prevent shrinkage!
He's no Jack NicklausThat was an epic choke job from Rory. I'm sure he'll be pumped to play the Travelers this week.
