The daughter of a family friend...she is 31 years old...is pregnant again. She already has two kids for which she receives a litany of public aid. She will get a job, work a couple of weeks, then quit and not work for several months. She is a pill-head and meth-head, has had both children taken away and placed in foster care for several months, and is about the most irresponsible white trash in existence. She has been spotted on more than one occasion by police, asleep in a car in a parking lot with both children awake in the back. Once, in a Family Dollar parking lot, the car wasn't even in park. Each time she was high as hell. I just can't fathom why others should be responsible for her continued mistakes. All of those kids are pretty well doomed if they remain with her, sleeping rat's nest motels, or run down trailers with mold and the roof and floors caving in. It's just so maddening.
OT: What are your thoughts on someone having kids while on public assistance, then having another kid?

This story is so tragic. Between the mexican cartel selling all the fetanol, cocaine and other drugs unfortunately this is what you get. I have had two friends that I never thought were in the drug scene passed away from the fetanol. Never in my wildest dreams did I think they were involved in this type of behavior. I hope for the kids sake they will be removed and put in a situation to where they can be productive in life. Between the social and political issues that are going on I know these kids will be doomed unless someone reaches out and helps. I pray that happens.
Making them take drug test are racist tho.
It’s devastating. But this is one of those deals where society and human nature are just messy. Nothing is perfect. From experience, advice I could give is just be as present as you can in their lives. Don’t beat them over the head with criticism. Just allow them to see what a normal functioning life looks like…as much as possible. It may be too late for the mom, but the kids will know what good looks like and be able to make a decision later in life.
If you can't feed them don't breed them. Anyone on welfare who has another child should have to agree to having their tubes tied to continue getting money.
I don't even know how she got custody of them again from foster care. Her oldest, 8 year old boy, was actually picked up by children's services at his elementary school when they were taken into custody, and his three year old sister was picked up at the grandparents' place. She was not even allowed to know where they were for months, but was finally allowed to find out and visit them a couple of counties over. In that time, like 7 or 8 months, the boy made so much progress in school and really started to thrive from having a stable environment. The couple that fostered them begged to be allowed to adopt, even promising to let the trashy mother see them regularly, but she selfishly refused.
How about the men who father these welfare children? Should they not be required to have a vasectomy if they are not paying child support for 18 years? Society does not want these women to abort these unwanted children…yet they don’t want to pay for their upkeep until they are 18 years old.

Well you could always offer sex education and free birth control ooops or how about allow abortion in this state, oh wait….. never mind….. well maybe people could step up and offer to adopt.

It is beyond me how she regained custody after they were in foster care for all those months. The boy, especially, was doing so much better. Not as tense or aggressive, not food protective. No child should ever have to tell someone that his mom or dad went into the bedroom to get high last night or know where they keep their "pill money."
Cause the system is set up for women. If the father wanted the child he would be ****** or she would have to die to have a chance at getting it.
It's easier to pretend the govt can teach drug addicts to be responsible. Surely free stuff will fix everything.
I know that's sarcasm but that not even remotely true. They want the lazys all dependent. Take a look at France that's their goal.

You can educate all you want but without some self control it's hopeless. But that's probably asking for too much. Birth control meds and abortion as birth control are not the answer.

It’s not assistance it’s dependency. I’m not against the principal of the system but I am in its current state. You won’t find a politician that will tough it though. Citizens United has ruined this country.
There is no mention of a father or fathers. Where Is that white trash father? Is he not paying child support? Has he not tried to get custody of the children? Those children would not be alive if it weren’t for the father, also. It seems like men are not held to the same responsibility of their children as women are. It sounds like he is not in the picture...he has probably moved on to another woman.
She is pretty sure she knows who the fathers are of the first two, but she's never tried to find out for sure. She currently shacks up with the father of the one she is pregnant by. He is also a pill-head, and they are not married. If he and she didn't wake up tomorrow, those kids, and the world, would be better for it.
Probably ought to be, based on subject alone, but it has engendered very little rancor, which is worth something.

Vasectomies and hysterectomies for irresponsible adults are better ways to deal with unwanted children than killing them at 1 week, 6 weeks, 6 months, etc. after conception with abortions.

If you`re depending on the government, there should be less benefits, more disincentives for each subsequent child after your first. To act like that is not a drain on the country financially is having your head buried in the sand. No one can stop people from having children(well we aren`t China...yet) but they would know they wouldn`t keep getting the same amount of assistance from the government if they keep increasing the costs to society.
Good friends of ours are foster parents. They'll get calls at all hours asking if they can take a child or 2, primarily brother/ sister combo. This couple has the patience of job, saints in my opinion, taking in kids, loving em up & taking care of them. Then, social services takes the kids back to the parent or parents only to remove them again & again. From what they tell us, social services bends over backwards to keep kids w/ their parents. Sadly, the kids become basketballs, bounced here, there & yonder. Sadder part of the story,, many of these lil ones were born addicts because mom did drugs while pregnant & more often than not, because of the drugs the child will have health or physical issues.
Wanna see something that'll tear out your heart? I used to call on a children's hospital over in TN solely dedicated to weaning infants off of drugs passed from mom to the child. To see these infants, it'll have you in tears & bring you to knees.
We're going on what, 40-50yrs of "war on drugs"? Kinda makes you wonder "who" the real pushers are?
I feel very strongly about this but will control myself and say I agree with poster who wants disincentives after the first child. Don't know who thought it was a good idea to encourage people to have children outside of marriage.
Or, we could teach people accountability, responsibility, and commitment to a lifelong requirement.
Last time I checked sex education and birth control was teaching and taking responsibility and accountability for your actions
Would be better to teach money management and balancing a bank account in public schools.
