One of my favorite music trivia questions. From Timothy to Escape & Him. How's that for a range?Gimme some Rupert Holmes and Christopher Cross
Why you hating on Meridian's own? (I would have lost that dead or alive)As I type this, Paul Davis is whining "I Go Crazy" over our office speakers, which almost made me rethink my stance on yacht rock. I 17'ing hate this song.
I guess like every other era of music, I like most of it, but it can't all be great.
Man I would put Cool Night and Sweet Life right in the middle of Yacht Rock era greatness... but I just can't abide IGC. It probably touches some emotion that's buried deep down in me from my childhood, but that's where I like to keep them. Why you hating on Meridian's own? (I would have lost that dead or alive)
Why that clip is so funny when he runs into the studio to just do a 3 second backing vocal.Michael McDonald is Yacht Rock. If you listen to the SiriusXM station I can guarantee every 4th song has Michael McDonald in it as either the singer or backup. He must have sang backup on thousands of songs.
Saw Yacht Rock Revue in Vegas a couple of years ago and even dressed the part. I was walking through the Luxor and Mandalay Bay speaking to everybody like I owned the joints. My gf was walking 5 feet behind me hiding her face in her hands. I couldn't even get her to wear a Gilligan cap.Yacht Rock Revue is a really good band that plays across the Southeast, maybe more parts of the country but if you have a chance to go see them, do.
Also Rumours band is more than awesome!
Anglo and/or Caucasian decentDefine Caucasian...
Btw, I'm not a MM hater, but I often turn off or away from his songs when they come on.
But never Takin it to the Streets. That one is smooth as a fine wine.
one of my best friends is MM 1st cousin. they both grew up in St.Louis. MM is about 20 years older than my friend. my friend talked about going to parties at MM house and the rest of the Doobie Brothers would be there along with Redd Foxx who was also from St. Louis.

Daryl HallI, unabashedly, am.
I grew up on Motown. A friend recommended him to me in the early 00's. It was a bunch of Motown covers, just honkified. Said friend was shocked I wasn't into him. Dude is 120% Caucasian. Harry Connick Jr. has more soul than this man. For that matter so does Dan Aykroyd.
See, Chris Stapleton, Post Malone, or hell, even, that Jelly Roll fella, for current honkeys that pay homage to the artists of that genre.
Michael McDonald just sang the same words.
For the record, I am also, very much a honkey. I was never really sure what Yacht Rock was. I may watch this to confirm that I hate it.
It's really hard for me to listen to I Keep Forgetting without adding "Regulators, MOUNT UP"Anglo and/or Caucasian decent
Keep Forgetting is unmatched.
I like MM, and James Ingram for that matter... but I could definitely do without that quintessential 80's earworm Yah Mo B There. (Nothing against you, God **)Takin it to the streets is top notch. I like the bass in it.
“What a Fool Believes” is good too. As a kid I always thought “It Keeps You Running” sounded like a video game.
