As I type this, Paul Davis is whining "I Go Crazy" over our office speakers, which almost made me rethink my stance on yacht rock. I 17'ing hate this song.

I guess like every other era of music, I like most of it, but it can't all be great.

Gimme some Rupert Holmes and Christopher Cross
One of my favorite music trivia questions. From Timothy to Escape & Him. How's that for a range?

"Timothy" is a pop rock song recorded by The Buoys as a single in 1970. The song describes a mine cave-in and aftermath, with the implication the two survivors cannibalized their companion, the eponymous Timothy. Written by Rupert Holmes, who also performed piano on the song, "Timothy" was conceived from the band being forced to promote their first single without the aid of their label, Scepter Records. Holmes' solution was to have the song generate attention by depicting a controversial subject.

Despite initial efforts from radio stations to ban the song, "Timothy" proved to be a success for the Buoys. It reached the U.S. Billboard Top 40 chart on April 17, 1971, where it remained on the chart for eight weeks and peaked at #17.

Why you hating on Meridian's own? (I would have lost that dead or alive)
Man I would put Cool Night and Sweet Life right in the middle of Yacht Rock era greatness... but I just can't abide IGC. It probably touches some emotion that's buried deep down in me from my childhood, but that's where I like to keep them.

Michael McDonald is Yacht Rock. If you listen to the SiriusXM station I can guarantee every 4th song has Michael McDonald in it as either the singer or backup. He must have sang backup on thousands of songs.
Why that clip is so funny when he runs into the studio to just do a 3 second backing vocal.
There are a bunch of them and wouldn't argue with the @onewoof MR but might I suggest Ambrosia is Yacht Rock?

A friend of mine who used to live by McDonald's up in Tennessee near Nashville said he was a really nice guy. He spent a lot of time with his family. I enjoyed that music and it's like they said in the preview—the video killed the radio star.

Yacht Rock Revue is a really good band that plays across the Southeast, maybe more parts of the country but if you have a chance to go see them, do.
Also Rumours band is more than awesome!
