definitely well for us to win. They gave up 13 points last night (the last TD definitely wasn't a catch and plus Mullen put us in a horrible position with the fake punt).

I still think we are soft but all that matters is how many points get scored on you. And the past two games - they have done a decent job at it.

The problem is our fundamentals. Our guys act like they don't know how to hit. Cam Lawrence likes to ride the backs of these guys like his own personal pink pony. Our secondary gives way to much of a cushion on the receivers EVERY play. Our D-Lineisn't getting enough pressure on the QB. Also add that La Tech outgained us in yardage (359-340), and we have a recipe for **** soup.

I'm not sold. </p>

With terrible LBs and DEs.

Cam Lawrence is pretty good. Wells is servicable. That's about it out of those two position groups. Why we aren't heavily recruiting a JUCO MLB is beyond me.

the first two words in that sentence sum it up, prettymuch. I'm sure Cam is a great person and all, but the guy wouldn't even be on LSU or Alabama's team, most likely.

But against their red-headed, cryptorchidism cousins at La Tech. We didn't look even decent. Lets get real, we couldn't stop them from moving the ball consistently and they relied heavy on the pass. We're supposed to have one of the better secondaries in the SEC and we let a 17 yr old midget virgin have his way with us. You can polish a turd all you want....

More missed tackles last night. More tackles you can't even qualify as "missed" because he got juked so bad he didn't even touch the guy.<div>
</div><div>Nonexistent in coverage. I dont know what happened to him. He was never that great in coverage, but he was at least very solid against the run. Now, nothing.</div><div>

quite reached "Dapoo" status, yet. Speaking of, I watched the bears' game yesterday and their D was very reminiscent of those ****** Dapoo led secondaries.

But he may be getting close. If you really go back and watch the film, he looks pretty bad out there.

Is that they've forgotten how to FORM tackle. I'm all for the big hits but, you can't run in there and just titty bump someone and hope they hit the ground hard. You've got to wrap up when you make that big hit. So many times they go in for the big hit and lead with just a shoulder hoping that momentum and physics will do the rest. Breaking down and open field tackling are two of the hardest things to teach someone in the secondary b/c usually there's always the opportunity for a punishing lick and they want that instead of a breaking down and making a play.

he's always out of place on coverage or just getting burnt. i remember mullen saying that he wish he had a team full of charles mitchells. i sure don't. and why hasn't darius slay played any defense? i though he was suppose to come in a be a shut down corner and a returner. seems like all i see on him is kick coverage. i'd like to move him to safety maybe and whitley to strong ovre mitchell, but that would never happen

Plain and simple. Secondary is not tackling well, but I think their coverage would look better with more pressure up front.</p>

I have no idea how he gets as much playing time as he does. I would love to see Bonner and Whitley out there than have Mitchell even on the field. Or even get Slay in some at either safety or corner and move banks to safety. Guy is a pitiful excuse for a safety. He used to be a good tackler and hard hitter. Now he can't even do that to make up for his awful coverage. It really sickens me to watch him play safety where he should be able to do both adequately, but instead he is SWAC level at both aspects of the position.

I was quickly falling into the "doubters" category with Chris Wilson, but we played well enough to win against LSU with any respectable offensive production, and allowing for an apparently blown replay call and the fake punt mistake, didbetter than thatagainst LaTech.

I understand the frustration with the lack of pressure from the D-line, but I thought Wilson did a good job of mixing blitzes, and we did get 4 sacks and 2 interceptions to go with that. Our blitzers have got to learn not to tip their hand early, but Lawrence did a bang-up job of checking out of some ofthose once they'd been revealed.

Meanwhile, this game had an ominous resemblance to the UAB game last year. We gave up 354 yards and 24 points to UAB. 359 and 20 to LaTech. We got 3 turnovers in both games as well.

I'm wondering if this is going to be Mullen's modus operandi: we'll have a game each year against alower tier opponent that we struggle in. As long as we win, I can live with that.
