Regarding Teasley, is there any chance we would have pursued him for the OL job if he wasn't already working in the building? Any at all? He was an analyst for us who was previously at North Carolina Central. OL is just a vital, vital position. It makes all the difference in the world between an effective offense and a disastrous offense. You can have all the skill players in the world, but without an OL, it's meaningless.
I know we had injuries, but we had arguably one of the worst OL in all of P5. Honestly, how much better would it have been if we were healthy? None of the players we had injured were of the caliber to elevate us from one of the worst in all of P5 to good. Beyond that, we saw little impact from coaching over the course of the season. You have injuries, ok. Coach up the players you have. Our OL struggled from Game 1 to Game 12 with even the most basic of blocking techniques. Given what I saw, even if we were healthy on OL, with the coaching we had, we still would have been pretty bad, or at least not good.
If Teasley had any kind of track record as an OL coach, I might feel differently, but he was a lazy internal promotion. When you coach your unit to the one of the worst in all of P5, I just think an upgrade has to be considered.
Agree with all the others.
