I refuse to get excited when the PSU PR machine is pimping the teams. Yay, mens BBall is 6-0 but I ask, who have they played?

PSU 108 Binghamton 66
PSU 103 UMBC 54
PSU 92 St Francis PA 62
PSU 86 Virginia Tech 64
PSU 102 Fort Wayne 89

Virginia Tech doesn't appear to be very good this year. Let's see how they do today against 5-1 Clemson and Dec 5th against Purdue

Speaking of UConn, Hurley's behavior during that entire game yesterday was a disgrace. It kills me hearing the national pundits defending him last night about how the ref "can't call a T in a tie game with a minute left". He should have easily gotten a 2nd T during the post-T outburst, and they could have nailed him several other times throughout the game (they let him off the hook early and gave the T to his bench).

If you can't T up a coach for those actions, is there anything that should actually warrant a Technical late in a close game, or do coaches have immunity at that point?

And don't get me started on his post-game comments...simply pathetic.

They haven't played a murder's row, but wins over VT/IPFW/Fordham will help come March. The impressive part is how they've been doing it...even with the weak schedule, we've showed on the court that we could be in the mix come March with how well we've played. But today will be a good litmus test of how good we can be this season.

Vt and IUFW are solid teams, much like with football, avoiding bad losses can be better than upset wins. Today and the two next week in conference will say a lot about what the team is capable of

absolutely, I would guess PSU will be a dog in each (maybe not Rutgers yet, but its on the road) game so even 1-2 will be ok. With Rutgres being on the road at OSU the Saturday before PSU I do think that helps us out since PSU has a couple extra days to rest/plan.

I've got all 3 of them as really close (pick today, slight favorite Purdue, slight dog Rutgers).

Pomeroy has us as a dog today (49%), but favorites against Purdue (53%) and Rutgers (58%)...though Ken has Rutgers lower than anyone.

Torvik has us as a dog in all 3 (Clemson 48%, Purdue 49%, Rutgers 34%).

Favored over Rutgers? I thought Rutgers had two top-twenty freshman recruits?

They might have two of the top 3 picks in the NBA draft. But they are young, and getting everyone to buy into the defensive and rebounding aspects can be a challenge. They are coming off a loss at Kennessaw State on Sunday.

We'll learn a lot about both Notre Dame and Rutgers tonight when they meet in Vegas at 10:30pm (TBS).
