Penn State coach Cael Sanderson wins 200th dual meet with the Lions in big win over Iowa: Takeaways
Penn State wrestling blew out Iowa Friday night at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. It marked Cael Sanderson's 200th win as a Nittany Lion.
Should have been more. Nagao had the fall.Largest win margin ever for PSU over Iowa in a dual meeti
He’ll beat him in BIG & NCAA’s!Beat on a slide by, freshman mistake
Must have had over 20 minutes of riding time and some pretty brutal mat returns. Complete domination. Brands will wake up this morning wondering if it’s time because it ain’t happening as the Iowa program continues to slide.PSU wins the TD battle, 21-5
In Caels first season, Iowa won 29-6 in Carver. It’s come full circle now and PSU sees Iowa getting very small in their rear view mirror as the gap between these programs is huge.Largest win margin ever for PSU over Iowa in a dual meet

This is exactly what Tom Brand’s does not do. It’s just a fact that he never changes his coaching style and other programs are going ahead of them.“Unless you continually work, evolve, and innovate, you'll learn a quick and painful lesson from someone who has.” - Cael Sanderson
Cut from GIA dual meet thread.
They better call that stalling at Maryland in the Big ten tournament and Nationals. That’s complete BS.I called it!! 3 touchdowns.
That Alaya not getting called for stalling to start sitting on one kneee really pissed me off. Sanderson will have to work with Davis on his leverage and beating that stall by knee tactic. A brands special!
Suck it iowa!!
Beau looked much better by opening up his offense.![]()
Beau Bartlett After Winning Showdown With Real Woods: 'I Want More'
Penn State top-ranked 141-pounder Beau Bartlett reflects on his 7-2 win against #2 Real Woods of Iowa.www.flowrestling.org
An injury kept Gabe Arnold off the mat tonight:
Other programs have passed Iowa now. Brand’s NEVER evolves. In Caels first season, Iowa won 29-6 in Carver. It’s come full circle now and PSU sees Iowa getting very small in their rear view mirror as the gap between these programs is huge.
Penn State would probably beat them by a similar score depending on bonus. How good is second ranked Oklahoma state and Cornell?
He is an absolute hammer and a true joy to watch. He is wiry and looks 10 lbs lighter than everyone he wrestles but is definitely on a higher plane than all others. Such great dudes on this team and Mitchell is one of the most likeable guys. Big fanboy hereHow is mesenbrink undefeated and still only ranked 7th? What does he need to do?
Let’s see if Gabe improves or declines in the Iowa program
Ayala as wellSaw that some Iowa fans are starting to feel that Real Woods has been remolded from an aggressive wrestler into the usual plodding, unimaginative Iowa model. They tend to blame Brands bros.
Agree.....both wrestled strong and i didn't see any "starstruck" emotion nor hesitancy in their wrestling @ Hawkeye-Carver .Not worried about them at all. Good time to learn. Handled themselves well in carver.
Honestly the Iowa fans were quite subdued...Lots of cheering in the TWO matches they won....but mostly silence in the other 8!Final thoughts:
After years of asking for it, Beau finally went on offense against Iowa! And looked confident doing it. Good for him.
Levi Haines is a DUDE
Starocci still looks off. Idk if he’s still sick, they’re working him hard, or what but his 3rd period isn’t there right now.
Wanted Kerk to really take it to Kueter, but in a way lying on top of him for 4 minutes counts.
Iowa fans make watching wrestling unenjoyable. Had tonight on mute basically the whole time. Shame really.
Yea their board wants rid of Brand’s. Saying he can’t adapt.
