Awful. And it wasn't like the original architecture of that building didn't match what the university has been building the last few decades.

That’s terrible. We really have done a great job over the last 15 years or so making the campus look more cohesive. Sucks they took a cool looking building in the heart of campus and did this.
I thought we learned our lesson with this:
It looks more hideous than the rendering. Why would they do this???
An absolute travesty. People should be fired.
And I’m not one to usually call for firings, be it coaches or whomever. This was just an awful, completely avoidable, loss-of-employment-worthy decision.
The downhill slide started when they switched from University Dining Services (actual MSU employees) to Aramark. And this didn't happen yesterday either.
Meanwhile, Dorman Hall lives on....

Dorman shut down back in May with all instructors being relocated throughout campus. It is currently being remodeled pretty good on inside. The outside hasn't begun yet.
So 80's bank buildings are making a comeback?

That’s honestly heartbreaking. Whoever thought that was a good idea needs their head examined.
They never should have been allowed to add on to Perry and they certainly shouldn't have been allowed to touch the inside of it either. It was our very first indoor football practice facility.
I really do wonder whether having an architecture schools hurts us. Do we let those weird 17ers weigh in on selecting firms or something?
An architecture professor at the schoool basically told me it was a mistake to have Swalm match Lee Hall because the architecture was racist. Not sure how absurd that statement would seem to other architect professors, but it makes me think none of those people should be near any decision making for the school.
Our ability to screw up a good thing can rear its ugly head at any time. This is one of those.

Heartbreaking is right. There's a lot of history associated with Perry. Faust is right...heads should roll for this.

This. go ahead and modernize the chapel of memories while you are at it. The cafeteria was sneakily my favorite building on all of campus. this really, really pisses me off
