1. On football I'm just stating what I see as the facts AS I SEE THEM. This season was a total failure across the board. I didn't expect much, I predicted 4-8 (0-8). We managed to do worse than that. I do see some small signs that on offense we might possibly be on the right track. It's a long, long way from where it needs to be though, the running game especially. On defense it's just BAD. We only have one real SEC caliber player, and he is a freshman. We are SMALL up front and get totally blown off the ball in most games. With the coaches Lebby WILL be back. We can NOT fire a HC two years in a row, we just can't. He probably gets the next year as well, no matter what. As for the DC, the odds a high he will back as well. that doesn't mean it's a lock, just pretty high. We all underestimated just how TOTAL this rebuild was going to be. The cupboard is as baren as I have ever seen it at MSU, and that's saying a LOT.

2. BASKETBALL: It's pretty apparent now what we are going to be. We are an outside oriented team. When the shots fall, we are capable of a lot. When they don't, we are going to find it tough. The key to any sort of positive consistency is going to be relentless effort on defense. We just HAVE to have that. I think we might be a little better than we were last year, but the record very well may not show it. The SEC is loaded this year.

Basketball team misses jefferies. None of the guards can stay in front of his man and we don’t have much length on the perimeter. Gonna prolly get out rebounded a lot.

Foul trouble got us out of rhythm early and we never really found it again. Just an off night. Think we’ll be fine. 3-1 in the last four games is actually pretty impressive. Beat Pitt at home and you’re still in a great spot.

It was a poor shooting night and Butler shot over 50 percent from the field and from 3. State started ice cold and Butler packed in the paint and clogged the lane.

Yep. It wouldn’t have mattered how we played defense if we could’ve had just 25% more baskets go in. We were missing point blank baskets and that is inexplicable.

Me looking for signs we're on the right track offensively. Seriously, this was one of the worst years offensively we've had since Croom.

That’s basketball. Sometimes the shooting goes cold on the road

It's the scheme more than anything. He is trying to be multi dimensional and also trying to mix in some down field action. We have to improve the line.

That's why you have to have relentless defensive effort, the shots won't fall every night, especially on the road.

You know what’s even worse than this abysmal season? The fact that we finally have a playoff format where 9-3 teams with a couple decent wins are legitimately in the hunt, yet here’s State stumbling around and tripping over itself like a damn drunk at Rick’s.

There are nearly a hundred teams out there with reason to think that they’ve either already got things rolling or are a year away from something special. Memphis, Vandy, Arkansas… They’ve all got reason for optimism. Meanwhile, we’re probably 2-3 years away from having a sliver of hope that we might make some stupid weed eater or auto parts bowl, and I’m far from convinced that we won’t be going through yet another coaching search by then.

The frustrating thing is that all of y’all that are saying that we can’t clean house are exactly right. We just can’t, but if every damn one of them from Selmon on down was given pink slips tomorrow, you know what the national pundits would be saying? “We get it…”
